Tommorow, It will be exactly 100 years scine the Wright Brothers made thier first flight. In myopinion, this is the most important date in world history. After 100 years, we can look at what has changed (Propulsion, speed, number of wings) and what has stayed the same. An old joke I heard, that on early planes, the where small, cramped and uncomfortable, and over 100 years, Airliners have stayed the same! After 100 years, if looks as if there is a big change to come, like the olfd days, more planes are be built be ametuers in thier garages, and planes are getting faster, lighter and with the advent of Computers, the sky is the limit (literally!). And, if any one askes "What simulator is this related to!?!?", you can think of FS2004. So after the first century, what do you think?-NHtrainOT: 100 years after – image 2 OT: 100 years after – image 3

yep, gonna be a huge celebration in Kitty Hawk, on every news channel, the Pres. is supposed to give a speach, then they'll fly the mock-up, and everyone will stop by the Micro$oft booth to check out FS2004 with the flyable Wright craft...i think it'd be worth it just to see people freezing their butts off, lol Records:Stupid errors: 45

I think the industry has come a long way, but it can go alot futhur. Also Jet engine (the one used on commerical airliners) may soon become obsolete because apparently they have found a new, more efficant, and more powerful propulison system. I'll try to find a link to it. Its bascially a minature rocket. Also we have the A380 to look foward to, and this thing is HUGE! Heres a pic of it. (not actual picture but you get the idea of the size)OT: 100 years after – image 6So we started out with this,OT: 100 years after – image 7and we're up to this Boeing 777
OT: 100 years after – image 8Airbus 380
OT: 100 years after – image 9and if we're lucky, we may have this someday,
OT: 100 years after – image 10The Boeing 7E7 Dreamliner. Yep, Aviation has come a long way.

Yes, I think you can make a case for it being among the most important dates in the history of human civilization. In hundreds of years, when humanity has expanded far beyond this fragile world very few events will seem as important."All of this means nothing, unless we go to the stars"Ron

Well, I have a arrow signed out for tommorow at 10am to do alittle flying. If its IFR I'll just take a 152 out and shoot landings. Just to say that I flew at the 100 year of flight.

Well, I got off the ground despite IFR conditions. I did a few laps around the pattern and landed. Oh, and my landing wasn't in the mud.

I have actually heard the Wright Brothers were avid bird watchers and were inspiered by watching Raptors fly. These birds can fly with the greatest of ease with fixed wings. They used that to help design the first airplane. For many years before the first Airplane people always wanted to know what it will be like to fly free as an Eagle. With the Airplane were are geting much closer to it but were not quite there, you can't land an airplane on a tree brach and turn around and take off as of yet, we're getting closer with jets that can take off and land without needing a runway. Even with all that, I still say this this is a perfect Areodynamic Design Pictured Below (I took the photo).
