Would i rather go with a amd athlon Xp cpu or a p4 processor? I know what i would want with the p4 to make it run awesome, but i dont have a clue as to what motherboard and powersupply the amd would want to work the best. Any help would surely be appreciated.
For games, just go with whatever's cheapest. The AthlonXPs are identical to the P4s in gaming.I like nVidia's nForce2 chipset for the AthlonXP. I use the MSI K7N2-L mobo, i've been really happy with it.BTW - if you have the $$$, pair up an Athlon64 with an nForce3 based motherboard ------ BUZZ ------ -- Power For You --
Don't AMD processors tend to heat up more than their Intel equivilents?Jonathan Nikiforovs. Milepost 180, CP Belleville Sub.Repainter for Yonder Locomotive Works.

>Don't AMD processors tend to heat up more than their Intel >equivilents? Somewhat. But that is caused by a much higher circuit content/density and the fact that a lot of people don't buy the correct cooling solution... Since most AMDs don't have built in heat spreaders but depend on the proper installation of a correctly sized Cooler....Easy way, especially if you don't over clock, buy AMD boxed processors and then you get the 3 year warranty and an approved, easy to install (if your not a geek) cooler.... It really all boils down to opinions and finances. Both are strong processors. Both have many adamant users that are positive their CPU is the best.I personally think that AMD gives you more bang for the buck, but I've owned many Pentium processors and have no complaints. I'm also a fan of the nForce chipset.Go with whatever you can afford. -Jeff
