Notice to all visitors and members of the Train-Sim.Com message forums: If you plan on using a signature banner in your posts, we would like to remind you that there is a maximum size for banners. That maximum is 450 pixels wide by 120 pixels high, and not to exceed 25k. Your compliance is appreciated. FORUM RULES Problems? There are two common reasons for problems with logging in and posting messages. The first is that you are running a firewall that prevents your messages from being sent to the server. The other is that you have cookies disabled; the DCForum software requires cookies to work properly.
Got Questions..ask em here.Reason for this poll is after the latest forum burp in the screenshot forum.Something needs to be done, instead of having Nels burn a hole in his pocket *DCForum costs $100* when there is better, free options out there. You can't have a grand community when your software can't even run it sucessfully. If a new forum was to be created. This entire forum will be archived, used to search around for things, no postings allowed. As far as I know, there is no converter for DCforum to x forum....

Brian, I like the forum style at "railroadforums.com" The only thing I dont really like about is that you can only post one image per post. The RRForums style has my vote! Would there be any way of increasing the ammount of shots per post with that piece of softwere??>Mike Forster< Perth, Western Australiapacificnational_nr103@hotmail.com
I agree with the one picture post.I also do not like how "Read New Posts" does not sort by catagory. You are always going to get resistance to change.Robert
While I think DCForums is already quite nice (I never had problems like losing my user account...), I prefer Invisionboard for its user functionality and all the options you are able to use.Well, I would settle with Invisionboard...Cheers!SebastianFeel free to IM me on: sstyrnol@hotmail.com My email is: sebastian.styrnol@gmx.de

You keep bringing this up.I'm an idiot, I know nothing about how these other forums work, good or bad.So.....Nels runs this place and I'm sure he can get intelligent opinions from people in the business about which forum is better without a poll for heavens sake.Taking a poll about a business from people who can barely spell, me included. What does Avsim use and do they have problems with it? I'd stay with this forum. Other forums like phpbb will have problems reading new posts, like the UKTS one, if you click on "Forums" twice in the main page. All the new topics will become old as the forum thinks you have visited the first time you press "Forum". I've had similar problems with Invision. Haven't tried YahBB yet. And if your browser crashes half way when you're in the forum, all the new posts are gone as well, so you'll have to see the date posted to see whether they are new. PhpBB still has many problems as seen in UKTS. New pages don't come out properly, like saying page 3 out of 2, and page 3 isn't displayed in the forum, even though there are posts in it.
-----You are reading my signature now, don't waste your time reading it!----- Or probably, maybe you should waste your time reading it. Eh, where did my signature go? Oh, here it is, the one you are reading right now? Can't you see it? I know I know, it's probably too bright to see it. Hey, look at my avatar, nice right? I drew it with my own hands holding the mouse in Paint, with the pencil tool(and the Filling tool!)! It's a picture of me in Planet Stooopid, where everything is the same as what you call "Earth" except that we are called "aliens" in your planet. Anyway, I warned you not waste time reading my signature! You have just wasted probably about 30 seconds reading it, where you could have spent the time doing better things, like maybe reading the next post below if there is one...
On the contrary; for most topics Stooopid is worth his weight in... information. He also never forgets anything...Tim Frost Everyone goes home happy if everyone goes home safe. Do it the Union Atlantic Way!
>Your nickname suits you very well Stooopid. Why not sign up at ANY phpbb forum and expierence those problems then? DCForum, I think is already very good.

ROFL! Then why have all the phpbb forums I visit never crashed in the many years they've been around??AustinA Proud Supporter of the: Train Simulator IRC Chat
>ROFL! Then why have all the phpbb forums I visit never >crashed in the many years they've been around?? I never said it crashed. It has more bugs that DCForum.

May be a pipe dream, but...I'd like to see software used that is reliable, but with the "organized" layout that DCForum uses. It is pretty easy here to tell which post is replying to what by the indenting. Been to other forums where you can't tell who's replying to what...Something like this WITHOUT the crashes would be cool...------ BUZZ ------ -- Power For You --
phpbb dab nabit! My favourite forum software. Whoever voted Invision board obviously knows little to nothing about forum software.... yeck.~The only way to ship~
>phpbb dab nabit! My favourite forum software. Whoever voted >Invision board obviously knows little to nothing about forum >software.... yeck. The Virtual Airline that I fly for uses Invision and we never had any problems with it, except for a few times when we needed to update SQL, because the server needed that update.

>phpbb dab nabit! My favourite forum software. Whoever voted >Invision board obviously knows little to nothing about forum software.... yeck.I'll second that and cast my vote for phpBB, as it seems the most reliable and stable (in my experience). Although, as someone pointed out, it does not have DCforum's "organized-indent" feature that allows you to see who is replying to what in a topic...Jonathan Nikiforovs. Milepost 180, CP Belleville Sub.Repainter for Yonder Locomotive Works.

I think I'll give RRfourms style a try. I am defently against PHPBB becasue it crashes alot more than this one does. In favct most of the time the crashes are caused by a bug where the trolls on the fourm will keep on sending data and nukeing them offline. THis is why it is nicknamed PHPNuke.

I vote for sticking with the current forums. I highly doubt that the forum is possessed by the beast and crashes everytime we look at it. I would like to know what caused the crash, did somebody hit the wrong buttons? Things usually happen for a reason, not just because...The current forums are easy to navigate and like others have mentioned very easy to read and follow threads.Just my take on the situation.Andrew Pickell RTC Trainee Centre for Rail Training and Technology
I didn't cast a vote, because I'm remaining neutral between whether to stay with the forums or move on to another one, but Andrew has a point here. DC Forum is easy to navigate, more navigable than RRForums, to be honest. You may post more than one picture per post, you can see a preview of the original message below the subject, but I wouldn't want Nels to go broke on keeping this forum active. I may cast a vote later, but...MTA Going your way for 100 years. 1904-2004 My most favorite quote I hear on the subway? "Ladies and gentlemen, we are being held by the train's dispatcher. This forum also has no PM inbox limit! But phpbb and invision has!

See the problem UKTS's phpbb forum presently is experiencing after a server upgrade. You cannot stay logged in, you cannot read topics, etc... So DCForum is much better. I don't think you can even add an attachment to the post in phpbb.
