Heh, North Carolina got snow and ice! Kinda reminds me of that major Ice storm we had about a year ago. I was without power for 4 days.

RE: Weather Report

Us folks out here in the plains just wanted to share some of the fun all the ice brings with the rest of you. Here around Omaha there wasn't much more than an inch of snow preceeded by a bit of rain.
But still with just that little nuisance there were literally dozens of fender benders and minor injury accidents. The concept that driving an SUV doesn't make you invincable hasn't sunken in with most folks around here. The dollar signs in the body shop owners eyes are visible already.

Yep, seems like a lot of FWD vehicle owners believe that because they have FWD, they can still go 70 on an icy and snow-packed interstate. I went from Olean, NY to Erie, PA on I-86 (distance of about 100 miles) last Saturday in the middle of a Lake Effect snow storm, and it was amazing how much courage some people have to go 70 on packed snow and ice. From Olean-Erie I saw 6 cars off the road wrecked, most of which were SUVs.

RE: Weather Report

Hee-hee, well, what we had there was a lake effect non-snow storm. Since the weather has been unseasonably warm, aside from one day with 60mph winds, Lake Michigan is warmer than usual. So the warm air rising off the lake, combined with onshore winds, kept the ambient above freezing and we got rain instead of the 4-6 inches of snow that they forecast. South suburbs and Indiana caught it tho, and I know our turn is coming.

Indianapolis only saw a slight dusting and it was gone. There's a bit of ice on the roads since it has been 'wet'. Most of that snow hit South Bend, Kokomo, Ft. Wayne, Lafayette......up north there. -=)Regards,

RE: Weather Report

Hey Don;
I was born & raised in Sioux City, Ia.; just up the river from you a ways. I can remember those winters, also. Living in Rockford Ill. now since 1964, remember some bad winters here back in the 70's. Had light snow here yesterday but got into the 40's and all melted ! Ron K of Rockford
