RE: Brian visits the ER

Brain I got a story to beat your fall this week! LOL Just to let you know this happened to my little brother this past Monday.Around 5:00 my little brother and I went over to the barn to do our normal everday chores. Well I knew I needed to feed the cows out in the pasture a couple rolls of hay so I fired up the tractor to go peform that chore. Well, I leave my little brother to do the work at the barn which really isn't that hard. He feeds all the cows on the bottem and heads up the ladder to put some hay down out of the loft for them. After he finishes the asigned task he starts of goof around up in the loft. Walking along the edge of the loft chasing cats etc. Well he starts walking along the edge again! This time he steeps on a board that bows a little but dosen't break. He thinks the board is about to break so he stumbles right off the side of the barn 14 feet down to the drive way. Well I'm heading back up the drive way with the tractor and get to the barn. He is bent over holding his arm. I then stop the tractor and open the cab door. Well he is crying, I ask what is wrong. He replies that he had broken his arm. I then call Mom to come over and get him to take him to the hospital. After waiting a couple lovely hours there (damn medical departments, take forever to do any simple task) we are told he has broken both of his arms. In is right arm he broke both bones in there about three inches off from this wrist. In the left arm he just fractured it, this arm hit the piece of farm equipment that was sitting in the barn for repair. So now he can't do anything. Can feed himself can't really use the bathroom without some help there. I told my Mom that I drew the line at helping him to the bathroom! LOL Sorry for any mispellings in this cause I don't really have much time to spend on here since I always got something to do. Get well soon Brian!Adam

reason for the fall...was in the process of cleaning the kitchen when my right foot got ou from under me and slipped andfell..my full weight going directly into a metal light switch cover...i lost quite a bit of blood, thankfully, my roommate was around oherwise i'll probablyout cold in a hospital room right now.i'll be taking an extended leave until about jan 1st...it's deeper then expected, might have to get 2-4 more stiches it stop it from bleeding...movement in my right hand has also been reduced since last night..which scares me....next update on sun from probably icy or kev..thanks allwow..took me 30 minutes type this *sighs*

RE: Update

Brian; Good you didn't end up like I did. When I did a Humpty Dumpty off the patio roof I ended up a quadriplegic. Accident like these take a split second to happen and I guess it is just luck of the draw how bad you get hurt. Get back to doctor and check on loss of mobility in hand quick. If there is spinal damage time is of the sessence as swelling of the spinal cord is serious. Good luck.

Brian:Don't worry about movement being reduced - that's probably normal for your kind of injury - and temporary! Managed an emergency room for a few years. Seen lots of stitches.Keep it dry, take antibiotics as directed for as long as they say, and you'll be fine.Try to have a happy holiday. We're thinkin' about you.Mark

RE: Brian visits the ER

Best wishes for a speedy and safe recovery!!!I don't envy you in the ER in the least...been there a couple times the past few months for major medical problems. Las one was gall bladder attack on 10/25, it had to be removed. I certainly don't wish that pain on anyone -- it was as though I was having a massive heart attack...on the right side. Weird, but luckily my wife was able to get me to the hospital.Enough digression....get better soon, Brian!!
