What does this sound like to you ? – image 1

Hello All, I turned the computer on and went into MSTS and a few minutes later I was greeted by the an interesting suprise of the Monitor shutting into Standby Mode and the Hibernation Light came on on the Keyboard , but meanwhile the Tower was still turned on and the Light indicated that it was turned on , Thinking that there was an interesting problem I went to turn off the computer ( Had to try and hold the power button becuase the Monitor was shut off ) and I held it for at least a minute and It did not shut off . I had to unplug the Tower from the wall ( Now that is something that can't be good for it ) . Can someone tell me what you think this sounds like to you ? Any Help is apperciatedSouthern Pacific will live on forever in the hearts of the Red and Gray Railfans What does this sound like to you ? – image 2

Did you just download the latest Windows XP updates? (Like within a week or so???)I did...and had major symptoms similar to what you are describing.I just went to Accessories/System Restore and set the system back to just before installing those latest updates and the problem went away. But not before System restore took about an horu or so doing other little tasks on the blue work screen....I forget the details, but it seems like those new updates corrupted something and the System restore seemed to fix it.

Ok, I have noticed that for the past 30 minutes I have not entered any Programs such as Roller Coaster Tycoon , MSTS or Railroad Tycoon and The computer has not shut down , This seems to only occur when I am about 2-6 minutes into a Program such as these. Check your mainboard and CPU temperatures, before and after you make it happen again. Also check video power and data cables to be sure they aren't loose in their sockets.
