Just as the name says, I have run across a good movie that offers a great show of steam trains in service. CNW from the colors of them. The movie is "The Emperor of the North" and features Lee marvin as a Hobo.

RE: Good Railroad Movie.

Granted. Interesting movie. Earnest Borgnine as a sadistic conductor..Lee Marvin as the "avenging Hobo". Good RR action though.Kip

The sad thing, is from what I've been told is during the depression, The conductor's actions were sometimes true to life.
I loved watching it though, the wording was so perfect, rather then saying "Hobo" Ernest saying "Hey Bo!" which is where we get the term from.
Edit: Was it a CNW train? The green and Yellow cars I mean.

Along this same line, I saw a movie called "Timberjack" the other night. The movie itself was a snoozer, but there were several good shots of a Shay moving log cars around.

RE: Good Railroad Movie.

Another good movie is "End of the Line" with Wilford E. Brimley. It’s a more modern movie (early 80's) but it is a good train movie.Jerry

RE: Good Railroad Movie.

Look at the cars that pass in emperor of the north (the passenger train) they're CNW pass cars. I'm trying to get it on DVD myself.
