Yep. And while they're at it why not install Gator and Kazaa and MS Messenger too? No point in being satisfied with half measures.

It is a damn good thing that the enigneer srvived the wreck. There was a Derailment in the 1990s in Cananda with a ore train with cars of ore and steel and the enigneer was killed in that wreck.
Hay you guys would you post more stuff like this on this site.

All ways remembering BigBoy 4023 and her run throuth Green River Wyoming on train 359 a 600 car mixed freight.

100% total agreement on tat one! I really don't need things constantly flashing in my tray, my computer talking on the internet to real.com when I am not doing anything internet related( my firewall informed me of this),and some stinking piece of software ratting me out to what my habits on the net are. Took it off long ago and will NOT re-install it.

RE: RE%253A Runaway Train Recording

The story I heard was that the train was a coal train that broke in half while loading, the second half going into emergency, but the weight of the loaded cars pushed onto the engines and the engineer couldn't stop.

A Runaway Train Recording

I could be mistaken, but if this is the story I'm thinking of, I believe that the air was never cut in on the cut of 30 cars. The crew figured they were just doing a quick switch move and not going anywhere, but the grade got the better of them. I read the transcript of the recording, and I think there's even a few places in there where the engineer says that there was no air put into the train. If there was a come-apart and air had been cut into the train, the come-apart would have caused the train to big-hole and go into emergency. My boss used this example to re-enforce the rule that we have to always cut in air when switching cars in the yard... even if its just one car, and always when "the combined weight of the rolling stock exceeds the weight of the locomotive(s)."
(Edited for clarity.)

RE: A Runaway Train Recording

Might've HAD DB. There's a point beyond which DB won't help much...try running a 7 or 8 thousand ton train down from Summit to Cajon without any air...or for that matter, Sandpatch...Tehachapi...or even Richmondville, and you'll see what I mean.Kurt
