and folders which will be left after uninstalling? If you don't do this, they will be still there when you install
MSTS again. Some old files could interfere when they aren't
complete anymore, like downloaded activities or trains.Hope this helpsDennis Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Nov-09-01, 08:07 AM (EST) 2. "RE: I REALLY REALLY NEED HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" A possibility,
If you have low disk space you might be hitting a memory barrier. You should have at least 1 GIG free for optimal swapfiling if you are letting windows do the swapfiling for you. This may be a slight exaggeration on the safe side but for MSTS which has an abnormal memory usage mayhaps it's not much of one. If you don't use the route editor you might get away with half that, but no less.
Also when you uninstall and reinstall software it's registry entries and directory paths can cause problems if you just delete the software rather than using uninstall and deleting what it leaves over. Try uninstalling, then deleting, then reinstalling.
Also check (although if it worked before this probably is not the problem) video drivers to ensure they're current as this is the most common cause for freeze-ups with the game. If you have a GeForce 2 you need 12.81 drivers or newer; if you have a GeForce3 I envy you; if you have anything else (especially an ATI) you might need to change video settings to ensure smooth Windows to DirectX resolution transitions. DirectX 8.0a is one step beyond 8.0 on the MSTS disks so download that if you don't already have it.-Andy
