Nels or Moderators

Is there a way to make one's current signature retroacative for all existing posts? The previous version of the forum software did this by default. Due to all the virii and worms circulating around, I have decided to remove my email address from my signature. However, there are about a thousand posts in the system that contain the address.Is there anything that can be done?Cal Rasmussen

Cal, Not that I know of, Nels might have a better idea on that. I'm wondering that myself.

If it helps, I have noticed that the archived threads are showing my current signature. Not as sure about the current/active threads.

I don't think that is the source of the infected mail. Its from someone on the forum with an infected computer that has sent you mail in the past. I've been getting the same corrupted returned mail as well. They need to be located and get their computer cleaned.If this helps, the infected computer has an address in their contact list for crisn@dodo . con . au (spaces added to break a link) as well as my address.SRV Ron

Well...I think anyone who posts their e-mail address to the wide open spaces on a forum is asking for trouble, you can always send a personal message here and exchange e-mail addresses at that time. Too many goofy people in this world that can sign you up for more smut sites than you'd care to receive.Just a thought and my 2 cents worth.Bob

One more thought...open a hotmail or yahoo account, they're free, and use that for forums and whatever.Slight PITR to check everyday but it keeps your primary e-mail for the important things.O'Riley

Heck, I use my Yahoo mail as my primary email. Not a problem for me to check.

Has anyone ever ended up with a worm or virus by opening an email from some other client than Microsoft Outlook?I remember a few years back MS rufused to patch the bug that atomaticlay opens all attachments when you open your email, because they're Microsoft and they wont do scwat. Anyway by having your email address posted in public places is how you end upon many spam lists and virus lists, People go all over the internet just to harvest email addresses and in turn sell them or spam with them. I have recived Emails saying that they'll sell you 1,000,000 email address for $125 or 2,000,000 for $200. Some just post your email addresses on Websites just for the purpose of Spaming.
