>Mike, > >How long did the transformation from trlley to light rail >take? And who is building the LRV's? Well, 47D (Drake) service was suspended in Sept. 1999 and re-construction will be completed by 2004. the ol' Pittsburgh Railways PCC's (rebuilt) 4004,4008-9 ran. Drake had seen better days..... Mike
RE: Port Authority of Allegheny County purchases new LR
Are they the same type of cars as on the T? "Line 42S outbound to South Hills Village" Will the "new" Drake line continue to Gateway Center? BTW: I think Pittsburgh has a great light rail system. I liked Pittsburgh so much, that I hadn't even left before I wanted to go back! Seriously, it was a really fun trip. Wasn't the Drake line replaced by buses a few years ago, or was that just temporary?

>Are they the same type of cars as on the T? >"Line 42S outbound to South Hills Village" The existing cars on the T are Siemens-Duewag SD400 LRVs. >Will the "new" Drake line continue to Gateway Center? Yes,but not through Beechview, Drake cars will run on the new Overbrook line(closed 1993,opening lat this year). >BTW: I think Pittsburgh has a great light rail system. When the line opens, bye bye buses!!Mike
