the SD70ACE is pretty much an SD70MAC with a refined 710 engine that is in the SD90MAC-II carbody. It is rated at 4000hp i think. As for the C45AC-CTE's, they are pretty much AC6000CW's with a new style radiator configuration and a HDL-12 (not 16 as in the AC6000). The C45's are rated at 4500ph and have traction control software installed on its computers. This is pretty much all i know about these locos. Try looking at GE's website, they have a little blurb about these beasts.>Mike Forster<

The SD70ACE closer resembles a SD9043MAC in function and design then a SD70MAC, it is equiped with a 16-710G3C-EC-T2 rated at 4300HP basically a heavily modifyed 710G3C which was the block used on the SD75 and SD9043. It also uses a entirely new AC electrical system designed by Alstom instead of Siemens that has one inverter bank per TM, Much like GE's system. I've also heard that a entirely new computer system is installed but havent seen any proof yet.
AS for the GE Evolution units AC4500CW/ACV12 & DC4500CW/DCV12 they are powered by a 12 cyl GEVO rated at 4500HP (but has been tested as high as 5000) While it shares some aspects with the HDL it is NOT a HDL, THey have several design diffences. For the most part however, Electrically the AC45 and AC44 share many of the same parts. The DC45 however has been vastly modifyed over the C44-9W, but I havent found out in what ways yet. RE: New low-emmssion loco's

I believe one of the main differences with the diesel engine is a major change in the fuel delivery system. There was talk at one time that each cylinder would have it's own fuel injection system and monitoring system. This was to prevent one or two cylinders of the engine from causing a lot of air pollution. The negative of this is that if an injector or some other fuel supply part for a cylinder has a problem it may not do much work. Thus an engine with less horsepower.Of couse if this becomes standard there should be no more blow torches from the stacks of GE locomotives! So much for those great shots.
