i thought it was BUDD...but maybe im just that stupid."Well sir there's nothing on earth like a genuine bona-fide electrified six-car monorail!"My grandma says that Train Simulator was the cheapest train set she ever bought me
When Amtrak was operating what I think they dubbed the 'Heritage Fleet' (i.e. the coaches inherited from every participant railroad/railway), the partial answer to that would be "Pullman-Standard, Budd, and American Car Foundry, plus individual rail shops". I'm actually not certain about ACF, but I seem to remember that they had a hand in the construction of the Phoebe Snow trainset, so that's why I mention them. Pullman-Standard seems to have manufactured the first generation of Superliners, and apparently went under at some point in the late 1970s or the 1980s. Bombardier, the Canadian company responsible in part for the Acela Express, apparently built the second-generation Superliners. A company called Talgo USA apparently had a hand in the construction of some trainsets used on the West Coast, but I don't know anything about them. There are probably more accurate answers to your question, but this is what I've got at the moment. One quick reference is http://www.lexcie.zetnet.co.uk/tops-amt-coach.htm

>I believe ALSTOM built Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner double >decker cars. Very nice. That's correct...though the basic car shells were made by Mafersa down in Brazil. The Amtrak California car shells also came from there, but were completed by Morrison-Knudsen.The Horizon fleet cars were built by Bombardier. So were the Acela trainsets. The Amfleet cars were built by Budd.I am not sure who did the Viewliner cars.
