BN + NS = BNSF at Needles California

The train crew at Needles California is adding NS power to make it up the hill to Flagstaff Arizona.......

On the 14th I took a trip up to the Tehachapi Loop and we caught quite a few Foriegn Units . Including NS ,Illonois Central, and CSX . I will post some pics when I get them ( Don't have a Digital Camera Yet )Southern Pacific will live on forever in the hearts of the Red and Gray Railfans Shane Palus

i still dont get why the heck BNSF and NS are hauling together like that...could it be because NS is in BNSF?! :p"Well sir there's nothing on earth like a genuine bona-fide electrified six-car monorail!"

I think BNSF is Leasing a Whole Lot of NS Units Southern Pacific will live on forever in the hearts of the Red and Gray Railfans Shane Palus

No, not leasing.Just run-through or "pool power".Friends back east say they see plenty of BNSF power on NS lines.

Thanks Austin,I was wondering why I was seeing more SD40-2 in cascade green with lights on the nose. Wasn't the original argument for the high mounted lights were that they provided more visibility for the crews??I guess a Santa Fe person ended up in that department

>I guess a Santa Fe person ended up in that department Yea, its just like the genious that came up with the idea adding a rotating beacon to the top of the cab would improve motorists visablity of the train, even though the high headlight was always brighter than the beacon and thus was never seen...Austin
