Oct-21-01, 04:17 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Nels on Vacation?" In fact, the latest files available for DL are dated for the 20th, though this is not indicated on the log-in page. But you are right, I'm also wondering why there haven't been any updates today...

We should start a club, Brothers of New Haven. I know I miss the New Haven. I got 99% of my experience with the railroad and such from the great guys on the Boston Division. It's a shame that it all went down the tubes when PC took over...

Oct-22-01, 05:10 PM (EST) 9. "RE: Nels on Vacation?" Here Here!
I grew up in Stamford and used to haunt the yard and walk the rails as a kid.... I remember almost getting "clipped" by and EF4 while sitting on the edge of the Glennbrook platform.... Boy did that thing come up fast and quiet! And I was watching a Jet haul a passsenger train in the other direction...... I also remember DL109s, vaguely from a trip to NH with my Grandfather, and when the FL9s were new.....
Nels is from upstate and still doesn't live too far away (Mass I think) since he gets over to Danbury from time to time.....
I on the otherhand am now a Beltway Bandit and the only time I get to see the NH is when traveling to see my grandsons in Boston or my sisters in Stamford.....
Did you get the Hancock Air Chime that I uploaded some months ago???? Also the CDOT/NH Heritage "stuff"???????The NY,NH & H lives! (and McGuiness Sux! LOL)

Oct-22-01, 09:58 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Nels on Vacation?" LAST EDITED ON Oct-22-01 AT 10:00 PM (EST) Unless I have lost my memory, Nels is in Framingham or Needham? Old Colony North territory. If I could get some good info, I might consider adding the Old Colony North to my endlessly expanding route. If it's New Haven and been uploaded I have it. Some of the old girls are back to work on the Old Colony on the South Shore. RS2-3's were used by the two local switchers. Just before the PC took over, they were also using GP-9s.
I have even extended my route down to New Haven. It previously sopped just south of Providence. As time allows, I have been getting more proficient with the route editor.
I have laid the tracks from Providence as far north on the shiny iron to Dedham. I have also laid tracks from Attleboro, down through Taunton to Middleboro, included the Middleboro Y, up through Brigdewater and Brockton and on up to Braintree. I have replicated in a tighter area, the Braintree Yard, recreated the Braintree Y and have started down the PLymouth branch. All these line will culminate at South Station as they did beofre the Neponset River bridge burned down in 57.
The Uboats, #2525 et al were used on the Old Colony for the road freights NK-1 and KN-2 back in the 60's so they are home as well. I am hoping the geeps get the old paint job sometime soon. I have started to add some scenery here and there mostly in Bridgewater but have been adding stations as I go, thanks to Topozone.com and their easy lookups.
I am hoping to be able to take the train from South Station to New Haven, in real life, so as to do scenery a little more to real life. I know every stitch of track from Braintree south and most of the shiny iron to Attleboro but the rest is sketchy at best.
New Haven forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oct-23-01, 05:21 PM (EST) 14. "RE: Nels on Vacation?" You betcha! Even if I have to burn it to CD. Right now the thing is monsterous. I am hoping to weed out un-necessary tiles and get it to fit on one. It will still be some time before it's done. There is a lot of territory to cover and scenerytize( where the heck did that word come from?)
Luckily, a lot of the track side on the South Shore is forest.....
