Oct-14-01, 03:42 PM (EST) "Question about Marias Pass?" Being another Aussie , I would like to know more about the Marias Pass -- what Companies have used and now use the line and what sort of equipment is/was used.I did a run with AMTRAK over the Sierra Nevadas and the Rockies between SanFrancisco an Chicago years ago - and Marias Pass reminds me of that line - although I do remember that the AMTRAK train went through some narrow and exciting river gorges that have not been modelled in Marias Pass.Barry Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Oct-14-01, 04:56 PM (EST) 1. "RE: Question about Marias Pass?" Hey,Currently, there are several trains that run Marias Pass, Amtrak and BNSF are the "main" players. Amtrak's Empire Builder trains 7/8 (Seattle Section) and 27/28 (Portland Section) normally run P42s and somethings, now rarely F40s. Marias Pass is 2.2% in spots, but I believe it is 1.8% most of the way up. On a really normal day, about 50 trainz run the hill, or at least the last time my friend did an overnighter there, but back then, the SD40 and SD40-2 was the the popular and the Dash 9 wasn't even thought of Hope this helpsBrian E. Oct-16-01, 10:01 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Question about Marias Pass?" AFAIK, the route was built in the late 1800s and operated by the Great Northern Railway until 1970 when the Burlington Northern was created by the merger of several railroads. Burlington Northern Santa Fe was created by merger of BN and Santa Fe in the 1990s. I don't remember the year.Bert
