RE: Windows 98 problems

The pointer can still move because the mouse generates an interupt signal that takes control of the CPU for a VERY brief period. After the pointer is redrawn control goes back to whatever limbo the main code process crashed to.The main process crashes could be caused by a variety of things. Running Microsoft's Windows setup program occasionaly clears some problems up and doesn't overwrite data files and applications. computer manufacturer / OEM installation programs might not be as considerate however. Although there are many other potential causes, sometimes a different video card driver version or a reinstalation of the version you all allready using helps. There is also a System File Checker available on the Tools menu of the Windows 98 Microsoft System Information utility (click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools).
