In the midst of surfing somewhere, I've run across references to a modern short line dubbed the Housatonic, and now I'm hunting for information on it. I'm stuck on a PCS modem (a blazing 14.4) for a week or so, and so I'm hoping someone'll be kind enough to give me some text about this modern iteration, since I can find a lot about the old one that the New Haven got a long time ago, but I'm coming up short on the new one. I'd also like to know if anything's been painted for MSTS in Housatonic livery. Thanks in advance!

I thought that Trains Magazine had an article about the modern Housaronic just a short while back. I'll have to look through the back issues. If no one else comes up with the info by tomorrow, I post then.
The modern Housatonic RR was formed in the 1980's and was a tourist rr. It had a GE 45 tonner and a GE 80 tonner for motive power. The ride down the Housatonic Vally was very nice, but it wasn't long before they went freight only. Now their power is mostly GP-35 s, GP-9s and a RS-3m (GM powered). They run from Pittsfield MA south to Danbury CT and down to Derby Junction. The most famouse landmark on the line is the Canaan Union Station, a wonderful old station at the site where the old Housatonic RR and the Central New England RR crossed. Unfortunatly the station was the victim of an arson fire. The East-West wing was destroyed along with the 3 story tower at the corner. That station was one of my favorites and I haven't had the heart to go see it since the fire. I hope the rebuilding plans can be worked out. Here's a link to The Housatonic Railroad Page (an unofficial look at a Southwestern New England Shortline) http://homepage.mac.com/housatonic/There is one Housatonic loco in the file library -
