I've seen various locomotives referred to as with or without hump control. What is it? Is it some sort of low speed control circuit for yard work?Gary

RE: Railroading Question - Hump Control?

Its a 'cruise control' that is used to stay at a set speed while humping cars. On the UP a lot of SW1500's MP15's SD38-2's GP15's and other yard engines have them. Engineer throttles up to the required notch, activate it, and kick back while the conductor humps.
