Jun-13-01, 03:16 PM (EST) "MSTS and Video Card" I just purchaced a new Pentium 3 1000 w/ 384ram ant the TNT2agp. Train-sim was the first program installed. Like others in this forum the sim stuck on a blank screen with the hourglass. Suggestions from you out there is to replace the drivers which I will try. I also tried to load Combat Flight Sim and the program loaded only 75% then came up with an error. I've heard about problems with DirectX 8. Could there be a problem there besides the video drivers. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I can get the game by going through the troubleshooter. I can not access the game from icons placed on the desktop. Even when placing the launcher onto the desktop it still hangs. I have to go into program files and opening the launcher from there. The game runs great once it gets started. I am actually getting to stations on time. I am finding out that I am enjoying the scenery to much and not paying enough attention to speed limits. I'm still adjusting to ground speed from air speed as I'm an avid combat flightsim player. Since getting this new computer, I'm amazed at the frame rates and the quality of the game play. My last computer was a Pent3 450 with an ATI All in Wonder with 128 memory. Frame rates were low even on medium settings. I've networked the computers together for multiplayer use on the flight sims. This train sim is a blast. I've waited a long time for a sim like this. As a long time collector of 50 year old + Lionel trains this is a welcome addition to my love of trains.
See you on the rails. Steve W. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-19-01, 02:59 AM (EST) 4. "RE: MSTS and Video Card" Hello steve W,After i had used the troubleshooter and ticked the skip ... test buttons played and exited the game through normal means (have not had any CTD's or lockups yet, not even with snow!) I was able to start the game by the desktop icon created during the install without any problems, perhaps you should try to use this icon again now the game is working and keep of the troubleshooter.About the game: I am a flight addict to (flown everything from the original apache and F19 op a C64 to BOB, Combat flight simulator2, the jane's serie (F15, F18) etc.) and i was amazed how much fun a train simulator could give me (a TRAIN!! of all things). I am starting to learn the editors as well so i think this game will be on my harddrive for a long time. So it is time to go to a bookshop and buy some books about trains as well.Greeting Rubydor Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
