After reading thru the readmes, PDFs, FAQs and checking out the patches, I can't find an answer for this one. "Raildriver calibration needs to be run once for proper calibration", OK, I did that, but ever time I launch the raildriver manager the calibration screen starts up automatically. Thinking I musta done something wrong, I ran thru the calibration again the first half dozen times, but altho the console is perfectly calibrated the calibration screen pops up every time I start the manager. Anyone know how to shut it off?

RE: Raildriver, stop calibrating!

Hi Jim,I had the same problem when I first got it. It depends which updates you have from RD and maybe you might have to reboot you PC to stop the RD re-calibration set up.Ken

RE: Raildriver, stop calibrating!

Well, I think I found the answer to that one, they want you to park the controls (reverser to neutral, throttle closed, train brake to CS, independent brake to release, headlights & wipers off) before exiting. I haven't thoroughly tested it yet, but I think you need to park the controls in that default position before launching also.So that's fixed, now I got another annoyance.Raildriver, stop calibrating! – image 2This being a new rig, I had done a fresh install of trainsim about 2 weeks ago on it. I hadn't disabled the startup movie yet (forgot how), but other than that minor irritation I had no problems yet. Now when I go to run the editors, it's giving me this idiot message. First of all, train.exe is in the default place, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\, not in the D drive, and since the shortcut target is Launcher.exe -runeditors, what the hell does this thing want with train.exe anyway?
It doesn't do this when I run the sim, either thru the launcher.exe -rungame, the customized train.exe -anisotropic, or the raildriver manager. It only does it when I go to open the editors and tools, and just started doing it today. I got WinXP home, my son's machine has Win98SE, and his editors and tools aren't giving him this grief. Possibly that's the connection, I'm not sure yet exactly what raildriver does to any of the MSTS files, if anything. I did download and install the latest patch from www.raildriver.com on my system, Mike's still has the raildriver software that came off the included disks. Have to look into that next.

RE: Raildriver, stop calibrating!

Turn Launcher.exe -runeditors into Launcher.exe -runeditor (in full "D:\Train Simulator\launcher.exe" -runeditor altering the path to suit your system) and it should be fine.To turn off movie HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\1.0\HWRenderer and alter showlogo from 1 to 0

RE: Raildriver, stop calibrating!

Hee-hee, got rid of the movie by cutting the .mpg file out, and that other was a mistype, it do say -runeditor, not -runeditors. I tried making a new shortcut to it, but it does the same thing. Can't find a .cfg file anywhere, so I guess I'll have to poke around in the registry and see if I can find where the blasted thing is looking for drive D. After backing up the registry, of course.

RE: Raildriver, stop calibrating!

I don't think it has anything to do with parking the controls before exiting. I never do that and don't have a problem. I like it because if I have to leave an activity for any reason, I leave the controls where they are. Then when I come back, everythings ready to go. No Muss, no fuss.I've never had my RD setup want to calibrate by itself other than when I first installed the software, or installed an update. I do a calibration manually every week or so just to allow for any mechanical slop being introduced from use, but it's always when I want to do it, not RD.Have you contacted tech support? They've always been pretty prompt with me. Tim also visits the forums on his off time.-Jeff

RE: Raildriver, stop calibrating!

Yeah, I shot the techies a note about the second problem after fixing the first. Maybe the controls just have to be parked when you exit the first time you calibrate, I dunno, haven't played with it much yet. I'm gonna wait for an answer for problem #2 before I go poking around with regedit, at the moment it's merely an annoyance, not stopping me from using the route & activity editors.

>haven't played with it much yet. That might be. After I calibrate a control, I move it to the park position before moving on to the next. So when I exit calibration, everything is parked.-Jeff

RE: Raildriver, stop calibrating!

Hmm, you're right, I just tried exiting trainsim and restarting with the controls all catywampus, it no longer tries to calibrate. Probably I didn't have everything parked in the right place the first time I exited the calibration. As for #2, the problem is gone now. What did I do? Shut down and went to bed is all, when I fired it up this morning the problem was gone. I thought WinXP wasn't supposed to have memory leaks like 98SE, so I didn't even think of rebooting to solve the problem.
