About a week ago, all of the files I'm downloading from the File Library are very slow, even while I'm on a cable connection! A few days ago, it took over 2 hours to download the Seaview v3 route. I'm getting under 7KB per second. What's up with that?

I have the First class membership and the download speed is not working that fast today due to heavy traffic. There is 3 big routes and other goodies in the file library. I just wrote to Nels and got a reply from him about the download speed. He will look into it. He said that he will make some manual adjustments for increased bandwidth or something like that.Edit; First classKen

Yea I belive all free nodes are closed now I cant get online theres only werre like 1 or 2 of them. As of right now I can't figure out how to get the $30 bucks to start up a premium account. My dad has fallen into a terrible addiction to EBay and is spending all of my money so I can't even buy anything while my dad buys useless junk on Ebay.

Finally got online. NO wonder why I'm having troubles the nodes had been cut down in half to increase download speeds. I notice I'm download at 20 KB a sec rather than 10 KB a sec. BTW Do I have the 4 downloads at a time limit when if I buy the First CLass Membership?

RE: Slooow File Library Download Times

I noticed that the nodes have been cut. its been pretty hard getting nto the library here lately. But I dont have a $30 membership so I cannot complain. All I can do is buy one or wait for a free node. Took me three days but I finally got the Kingsport Sub.

RE: Slooow File Library Download Times

I know that the provision of the file library here is at the pleasure of Nels and that buying a membership helps support his efforts to keep it running. It's a wonderful service and I believe it should be supported as much as possible. I'm concerned though that the number of enormous files being downloaded are tieing up the free nodes so much that unless you buy a membership forget about being able to download anything at all. The folks who can't procure a membership for whatever reason are losing out. The reason I mention this is because having to buy the membership to gain access to the files no longer makes them free and probably goes against the copyright statements contained in many of the files.Having stated this I fully expect to get blasted for bringing it up but it's something to think about.Stew

>John I think the Game Publiser should pick up on some of the tab. I know that there are some sites out there that are important to their games that they actually pay to keep thier sites up. This site is a good example of one.

I average 15-20K a ssecond and I'm on cable
I only download 2 files at a time. So I can do other things on my computer
I've gotten half of the ADFRR route
THe other half I'll get in the morningI usually get up at lke 5:00am EDT so I'm always in when I log in. I usually if I'm on at night try to log in 10 times in 5 minutes, if that don't work I wait it out. It's no big deal to me if I can't get in I bide my time. BNSF Detector Milepost 666.

Earlier today, I was trying for 1/2 hour just to get into the file library when I gave up. I'm trying again and it's taken me a while again.

RE: Slooow File Library Download Times

Best time to download is between 4 and 5 am. In and out fast even if you dont have a membership. But it will still be the best 30 bucks you'll spend.
