I'd like to put my new digital camera to work taking pictures of CSX trains running through my area, Clearwater, Florida. However, they seem to be few and far between. Does anyone know if it is possible to access a CSX schedule showing when freight trains run through Clearwater?Anthony Clearwater, FL
RE: CSX train schedules through Clearwater, Florida?
Been awhile since I was there, but I think the line through Clearwater is just a branch to serve St. Pete, and probably only used on an "as needed" basis with no actual schedule.

That is probably true; nevertheless, to get to St. Petersburg, a train would have to ride the rails through the Clearwater area. I don't think there is passenger service through here, only freight, so I guess there is no such thing as a "schedule."Anthony

There is sort of a schedule. The local seems to run south every morning, going through downtown Clearwater just before 9:00 AM, and heads back north around 2:00 AM.Last year I lived downtown (almost) and heard it blow every morning. I don't sleep much, and at around 2:00 AM, every night (at least during the week), it "taps" the horn heading back north.I've seen twin GP38's in a passing siding just south of downtown near Greenwood, sometimes, around lunch time.None of this official, but I'm pretty close on the timing.Good Luck!Mark A Southern Railway Fan The NE Georgia/SC Route

There are 2 locals that work the Clearwater area. The O701 (Clearwater Switcher) is the day local and leaves around 0800-0900 in the morning, and heads south to St. Petersburg. The O702 (Largo Switcher) is the night local and leaves around 1700-1800 north to Tampa. I'm not sure of the return times for the two trains. The same power is used for both trains. I believe these trains run Monday-Friday, although I am not sure. Jordan
