HI Fellow Train Simmers; I just purchased and installed Sandpatch by Maple Leaf Tracks. Everything works fine in Explore mode, but the first Activity I ran I recieved a Game over message, for suposedly "failing to sound horn a a level crossing"! This was about one mile after the last road crossing, and no other crossing or "W" sign in sight. In all the routes I have operated, this is the first time I ever got this error message. Does anyone know if there are any fixes or updates for Sandpatch, and where I might find them in MSTS Files? Thanks for any help or advice.Daniel
MLT has a patch for this route that fixes this problem and some others available on their, MLT's, site....Chuck Schneider (Virtual) CEO North American (Virtual) Locomotive Works
As Chuck mentioned, there IS a patch on the MLT web site...once you install it, it will eliminate the horn blowing requirement for all but one crossing. However, that will not be hard to find -- once you have installed the patch, you'll find one of the .W files in the route/world folder for Sandpatch still needs to be modified. There is one of the .W files duplicated but with an erroneous filename (it's not exactly in the format the others are in). Because of this, the patch "misses" fixing this particular file. (I also tried deleting this particular erroneous duplicate file, and Sandpatch locks up around MP205 or so, once I put this file back it worked okay.)The filename that you will need to open manually (decompress using Route Riter) and change is: w-0111600143101 (normally the filename would be like w-011160+14310.w)Once you've decompressed it, opened it with Notepad (in Windows XP) look for a line in the file that says "CrashProbability". If it is set at any value other that ( 0) you will have to blow the horn or get wiped out. It's a real pain in the butt, I know -- even a REAL railroad engineer would NOT get fired for not blowing the horn at a crossing.
HI Gents;I Thank you for your replies and feedback. This forum really works. To coin a phrase from Radio Shack, "I got questions, You got answers" I went into Maple Leaf Tracks website, found and dowloaded two fixes, one in regards to Textures, and an Update. I installed both late last night, and I was getting ready to start Train Sim, to see if the patches worked, when I decided to log onto the forum and offer my thanks. Shoskins, I will print out your instructions and heve my Computer Guru son help me go into the .W files to make sure I get it right. Again, I thank You for all your help. I'll let you know if everything works okay.Daniel Marra:-)
Hey bus driver!!!May I suggest that you use Route Riter to uncompress and re-compress those .w files.Route Riter is a GREAT program for doing a lot of things, mainly shrinking route size by eliminating unnecessary files.Steve Hoskins
