Jun-12-01, 02:00 PM (EST) "Rail Road Crossings" Just wondering If anyone has experienced The Rail Road crossing NOT going down when the train IS passing. The gates are still up when you cross. I'm wondering If this Is a bug or there Is something I'm not doing. Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-13-01, 10:22 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Rail Road Crossings" well, i havent noticed the gates, but sometimes when I stop the train (or the simulation starts with the train at a crossing) cars will pass thru the train.

Jun-13-01, 11:49 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Rail Road Crossings" I noticed the gates won't be down unless there is traffic. And in response to the cars passing through the train, I have had deer that won't get off the track no matter how much I blow the horn and they pass right through the train.. Jun-19-01, 00:06 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Rail Road Crossings" I noticed that on trains with a lot of cars (try 8 Dash-9 locos and about 100 chemical cars) the vehicles will suddenly start crossing the road even though the entire train has not made it across the crossing.

Jun-19-01, 12:56 PM (EST) 6. "RE: Rail Road Crossings" Hey gang! I have noticed gates not coming down at Marias Pass and no bells at crossings, but later on down the route at other crossings, the gates do come down and bells ring. Probably just a bug that will get taken care in a patch. This simulator is really great for all of us railroad fans. It will only get better with add-ons and third party additions. Jun-19-01, 03:31 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Rail Road Crossings" From what I've noticed, it would appear that the rail cars don't enter the picture for the crossing gates. In shoving cars back into the siding at Glacier Park International Airport, the crossing gate went down as the locomotive approached, by which time half of the train was already through the crossing. They don't seem to be using track circuits for the crossing gates. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-20-01, 06:27 AM (EST) 9. "RE: Rail Road Crossings" As someone who built and maintained RR crossings for a living,I was bothered by this more than anything.Flashing lights would be nice also. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-20-01, 12:05 PM (EST) 10. "RE: Rail Road Crossings" I agree, also on the Marias Pass I noticed one Xing gates would not come up after I had passed. Also, did anyone notice the occasional car or truck running into the back of another along the way? Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: Rail Road Crossings" you said you built and maintained RR croosings well you know how they are now right they only cover half the crossing but cars can still squeez pass them why not have them cover the whole thing? And I saw a WigWag sign the other day no telling how many people went passed it without stopping.>As someone who built and maintained

Jun-20-01, 12:33 PM (EST) 11. "RE: Rail Road Crossings" On the Marias Pass route, there was one crossing gate that only partially closed, it was still up at an angle.Last night I noticed that none of the gates at the gatehouse on the Settle to Carlisle route closed when the train passed the crossing. Jun-20-01, 08:02 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Rail Road Crossings" Having messed around in the Route Editor for a bit, it appears that the development team MAY have been under pressure, time constraints, and made a dummy crossing to get the sim out the door. I've looked at the crossings that do work, and they have several parts, consisting of the crossing pads (like the rubber crossing components that the real guys use), animated gates or flashers, and several components that are placed (but not seen) to actuate the gates/flashers. There's all kinds of wierd stuff that shows up when you look at a crossing with the Route Editor. On the other hand, the crossings that do not work are a single component. Select it, drop it in place, move on. There are several things I've seen in the Route Editor that don't make sense, so I assume they are components that were under development, and the dummy items are placeholders. For instance, under the Route Editor, I've found the Woman Hiker (considered a hazard under the Route Editor) who appears in several locations (she's on the bridge at the east end of Columbia Falls, by the parked car on the bridge), but she's invisible while running the sim. But someone must have placed here there (and at least one other location I've found so far) for a reason. I'm trying to make her visible. There are also a few sound markers that don't work (cow moo, for instance) that were placed, but apparently, no sound file was developed, or at least de-bugged. My attitude is to make it work, or come up with a workaround. WE are the development team for Version 2.0. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
