I have all the sound sliders maxed out, but still when switching to a 2,3, or 4 view still gives a quiet engine sound. But other things are normal volume. For example, the new dash 9 sounds released a month or two ago, when you get up to a certain speed, you can hear the traction motor whine just as loud and clear, but the volume of the engine sounds are very low. I've been trying to fix that but to no luck so far. Any suggestions.

RE: How To Boost Core MSTS Sound.

There is a bug in MSTS which causes all the helper locomotives to remain in Idle sound.

Train will be replaced by Waterloo & City line version soon due to stooopid banning of train .gifs.
Hey! Did I spell stooopid wrongly? I'm really getting stooopid now! I don't even know the correct spelling...

Couldn't you just edit the respective .wav - file in order to increase its volume???

The problem is in the way the XXXXXXXtrack#.sms files are set up. They control how the sound is presented in MSTS on different external views. There was a patch submitted thar fixed the external sounds, but, it is not available in the forum library and copyrights prevent me from uploading it. It put the external sound volume up to the proper volume. (usually, not 100% foolproof given the bugs present in MSTS.)>>>Updated .sms files for external sound

PLEASE DO NOT REDISTRIBUTE THIS .ZIP FILE OR
ANY OF ITS CONTENTS WITHOUT MY EXPRESS PERMISSION.Just place all of these .sms files in your TrainSim
SOUND directory (for example, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\SOUND)You may want to back up your original .sms files, in
case these files sound undesirable to you.<<<I don't think that the above address is valid anymore. Edit, the link is still valid.Fortunely, I keep all downloaded stuff archived as I would have lost this a long time ago.SRV Ron
