I need visual Basic – image 1

Curently I'm taking a class in Computer Programming where we learn Visual Basic. It so happens that most of the people there are 16-17 and I'm 15, as the cource is for Grade 11 and I'm in Grade 10. Therefore I have fallen behind and it started to affect my marks. But since I understand Visual Basic (maybe not as fast as the older students)and more importantly enjoy creating programs in it, it will be very sad if next year I won't able to take the Grade 12 version of the cource becuase of a 68%+ But if I had Visual Basic at home, I could catch up and stay "on track" with them, thus improving my marks.Anyway - please, if you can, help me get Visual Basic! I know that it's somewhere on the net, but where? Give me a link please...
From this program, you too can benefit, as I can do much wiith it, such as make an exchange rate translator, where you put in American $ and get the Canadian $ value for it (or Vice verca), or anything that involves calculating #'s for that matter. But since I'm already behind, I can't even dream of doing this, as I simply don't have the time in class. Please help me, thanks ----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you know a place where I can download Visual Basic, please tell me at ussrtrainsim@narod.ru

RE: I need visual Basic...

Downloading it off the net would be considered piracy, an alternative is to go to Borders and look thru the programming books there. Some of those books will have versions of VB included. The stand alone version of VB can be bought at your local community college at a good price, about $60 where I live.

RE: I need visual Basic...

As a student you can purchase it at a steep scholastic discount, piracy is stealing and that is not acceptable under any circumstance.

RE: I need visual Basic...

There are several books available that have what is called a working compiler in them on CD usually about $50 US. Would be cheaper than getting prosecuted for software piracy.

RE: I need visual Basic...

Hi,There is a free alternative. DotNet.
The DotNet framework is free and you can use a freeware development tool like SharpDevelop. In contrary to Visual Basic up to number 6, you don't need a Tool from Microsoft to create programs. A simple text editor is in fact enough.
But SharpDevelop is far more then a simple text editor.
An other recommandation: Learn C# or learn Java.
I think this languages have future. But still keep an eye on VB .Net and learn that one too. Always better too have several horses in the race. And remember developing Java is very cheap. You can download stuff from Sun.SharpDevelop can be downloaded from:
http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSource/SD/DotNet framework can be downloaded from:
http://www.msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/netdevframework.aspAnd at http://msdn.microsoft.com you will find a wealth on articles about developing with Microsoft products.Another usefull site for developing is:
http://www.fawcette.com/default.aspSeveral on-line magazines can be found there.Dick van den HovenI need visual Basic – image 7

FYI, You can write Visual Basic Program code in any simple text editor also. To compile any written code from any language will require a compiler, there is no difference between languages on these points.
