RE: Annual Event.... MOON AMTRAK!!

Who started the 'event' --Amtrak?
--> "The Amtrak trains will be filled to capacity with passengers to see the "moon show"" Seems like a good way to increase ridership.... but it would really slow down the Acella trains...MattAnnual Event… MOON AMTRAK! – image 2

How can you get a kick out of that?! That just rubs the name of all train fans in the ground. I don't take kindly to people, ESPECIALLY train fans who do this.LaterNW 1218LONG LIVE THE F40C!

I'm twelve, and just a bit of a serious trainwatcher. Besides, Amtrak is awesome. So, watch it NERR, and I understand that it don't hurt nobody, I just don't like it. Hey, everybody is entitled to their opinion.LaterNW 1218LONG LIVE THE F40C!

RE: Annual Event.... MOON AMTRAK!!

I am just a little serious. Not dead serious. My greatgrabdfather called a C44-9W a GP60. I didn't get mad. I'm not strict. I just like to get the most out of it. Besides, I don't live in California. I live in Illinois. Although, this summer, I am going to Nevada and California to see Cajon Pass. My Dad went to see it last year. Don'y mind me.LaterNW 1218LONG LIVE THE F40C!

RE: Annual Event.... MOON AMTRAK!!

Yup, the Orange County Sheriff came out a couple years ago with intentions of hauling peoples' (bare) asses in...but they decided the event was harmless, as the place is in the middle of an industrial area and can't be seen by anyone except the passing trains. The first couple years, it caught train crews by surprise -- but now the saloon running the event sends Amtrak their flyers, and the trains all slow down to a crawl through the area (normally 90 MPH territory). I know someone who went last year, and they showed me pictures of -- believe it or not -- a big bare moon out of the side of an Amtrak F59 cab window!!!!

>>a big bare moon out of the side of an Amtrak F59 cab window!!!!Now that is funny!!In colorado its tradition for the rafters to always moon the amtrak train as it passes. I remember on trip on the train, and listening to a grandma in front of me say "oh my..." Nick
