Sep-11-01, 09:41 AM (EST) "World Trade Centre" I know this is 'off topic'. Having just seen the news on the television about the tragedy in New York this morning, I would like to express my sympathy to any one in this forum whose friends and family were in the area at the time. I was in the centre of Manchester (UK) when the city was devastated by a terrorist bomb and know what the feeling of shock, terror, sorrow, and anger after a disaster like this can be like. Having visited New York, and the World Trade Center a couple of times compounds the sorrow that I feel about this tragedy. My thoughts, as I am sure are everybody's, are with the families and friends of all those who have been killed or injured.Bill Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

My guess was 10,000 people died, even before I heard much. Sadly I got hom and just heard that I was exactly right. I sympathise for anyone who lives near new york and or had anyone in New York at the time. I only live an hour away from it and near Phili, at which everything is closed because of feared terrorist attack Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Sep-11-01, 02:55 PM (EST) 8. "RE: World Trade Centre" On an ordinary day in September. I was born in 1953, but I now think I know the feelings that the average American experienced on December 7th, 1941. Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, the reluctant architect of the Pearl Harbor attack, was every inch a military man. In spite of his warnings to his superiors that going to war with the United States was a bad idea, they ordered him to plan and carry out an attack anyway. So he did his duty to the best of his ability, and looked at from a strictly military viewpoint it was brilliantly conceived and flawlessly executed. In Japan, he was the hero of the hour, but he was a wise man and therefore one of the few in Japan not celebrating. I forget his exact words, but they were something like "I fear all we have accomplished today was to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." I doubt any of those middle east fanatics are that wise, but most of them are going to find out what happens when you awaken a sleeping giant. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

"RE: World Trade Centre" all i have to say is why? everytime there is a major disaster in the world, we are always the first ones to help and send aid. i thought that the bombing the did several years ago on the world trade center was horrific, and dispicable, and disgusting, but that was NOTHING compared to what happened today. this is pure evil. anyone who could plan something like and actually carry it out is satan, the devil, whatever u wanna call it. ive been cryin all day, ill be cryin all night probably. all i know for sure is ill never be the same again.

Sep-11-01, 05:16 PM (EST) 14. "RE: World Trade Centre" I know this is Train-Sim, but we all hurt really bad and for some of us this is a place to speak our minds.. and hearts. I wish to offer my condolences to those who have freinds and families torn apart by this tragedy. I - can't believe it - It all seems like a bad dream. I'm so sorry....You don't need to read any more, but I felt the need to share this following text...Tim MuirThis message was emailed to me by my brother in Arizona 3 days ago- Now it seems to have new meaning...Recent message from the Hopi Elders-You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now
you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour. And there
are things to be considered...Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.
It is time to speak your Truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leaderThere is a river flowing now very fast. It isso great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will
try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart
and will suffer greatly.Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of
the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open,
and our heads above the water.See who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we
are to take nothing personally. Least of all, ourselves. For the moment
that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves!Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary. All
that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones we've been waiting for.Oraibi, Arizona

I've been following the news and saw that 40+ xtra planes were diverted here, mostly by Delta. They said they were parking them nose to tail on the runway. When I went for my lunch I usually watch the planes come in for final, today it was too quiet. Maybe this is what it was like 100 years ago.-Chris

I emphasise had... there will not be a bloody damn thing any moderate American Leader can ever do to help them for a very long time, including pressuring Israel to go easy (which we have been trying to do for years inspite of intense lobbying to the contrary by factions in our own society...) Any politician who comes forward now with any words of sympathy for the Palistinian plight will get to see his opponent play tapes of that Fat Bitch in a Bed Sheet sticking her tounge out and laughing over this....time and time again in their campaign adds.... You know you would think Arafat and the other leaders of the Palastinians would have gotten the word out to the radicals to lay low and don't say a damn thing cause the Yanks will be looking for some serious payback and now is not the time to stick your head up! Key phrase from Pres. Bush's speech "We will not differentiate between the terrorists and the Governments and Organizations who support them".... Why do you think every literate Taliban leader within 50 miles of a camcorder rushed to get on record that "It weren't us boss honestly it wasn't!" Sep-11-01, 10:36 PM (EST) 21. "Pearl Harbor Deja vu?" When I first time saw the news on the net, I just couldn't believe it - I thought someone was pulling a joke or something. Then I began to crasp that it was REAL, FUCKING HAPPENING...and what comes to the palestinians, well, there's a lot of extremists out there, but I don't think the majority of them are "happy" about this - after all, their people will almost certain suffer from this, one way or other, which, I don't think is right. The terrorists should be caught and trialed, not civilians.
And what about the tragic, ironic timing of that japanese guy posting his threat on this forum here just a couple of days ago, which said "MSTS IS DEAD!" - man, what a timing...and all this talk about Pearl Harbor and sort, it's really just unbelievable. I just hope that the third world war isn't at hand. But it probably is. It's amazing, that still, on the 21st century, some groups of people think they can achieve their goals by killing other people. I really hope that the US isn't going to fall in THAT trap themselves, now. By the way, I'm from finland, and they said in the news, the police have extra security on the US embassy here too. Well, that's a bit of exaggeration by the authorities here, but I can't even imagine what it is like there in the US, with roads blocked, whole areas of towns blocked.Oh what a day... "RE: World Trade Centre" I also attended a university with a significant overseas population, although of course nothing like this ever happened, and I never saw quite the reactions I'm sure you witnessed. I always found it amazing, though, that there were so many people who had such disdain for the United States, yet came here for education and the other things we have that may be, arguably, better than their home countries. I believe there are people who are angry at us about, maybe jealous of, our commerce and our success, but we have worked for it and earned it by diverting our energies not to hate, but to better ourselves, and the world. Whoever they are and wherever they're from, the world knows their cowardice. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I couldn't agree more, I don't know how to express my outrage at the reaction of the majority of Arabs so far. I'm totally disgusted by it. To condone such a despicable act of barbaric cowardice is beyond my level of comprehension. Many nations around the world have been the brunt of terrorism, and our "politically correct" society has frowned upon acts of reprisal. In recent months the world criticized Israel for killing those responsible for terrorism. Well now the world has changed, and those who commit terrorism, or those who harbor and sympathize with terrorists should be wary. America, and the civilized world is angry, people will pay for their cowardly acts.
Those who think that Israel was wrong for killing the head of a known terrorist group, watch out, you ain’t seen nothing yet. The U.S. is angry, and justice will be sought.

Those Dune Coons obviously they don't know how powerful we are, and that quote from "Tora! Tora! Tora!" is absolutly correct. no body in there right mind would want to wake up a beast, espically a beast with the H bomb, capable of destroying a entire country, is it definantly the work of the Palistianans. i say nuke the sons of bitches, they need a good ass whippin. and my condolences to all those who lost family or freinds in this sensless act of terrorism. and what sucks for me is i live in San Diego and right by the San Clemente Nucluear Power Plant and if those Towel Heads attack that i'm pretty much dead as a doornail, but i don't think it could happen, but again i never thought that anyone would try to fly a plane into the world trade center, so i don't know what to think anymore. and in an interview one Palistian said "they should have done more" that's just sick, i hope that son of a bitch burns in hell. Sep-13-01, 01:32 AM (EST) 37. "RE: World Trade Center (America's way of spelling it)" To All,I as an African American have cried several times yesterday for the loss of my fellow American lives. Being that this devastating act was done in the "Eye of the World" New York City, I am sure that my bretherns included European Americans, Puerto Ricans, American Indians, Jewish Americans, Asian Americans and the list will go on and on and on. I say all this to say that I hope my Railroad brothers will their hatred into that of race, culture or religion! Do not get me wrong...I understand your anger..I am totally engulfed in it at this time! But let us not let our anger be used as the "easy tool" of our retaliation. As a victim of race profiling myself, I know how nice and easy to it is for people to just "group" things (race and religion).I leave you with this thought..if Timothy Mcveigh was an African American...would I be considered a criminal by association? I pray that my fellow Americans will still know the difference between determining the guilty and the innocent. This is part of what makes us Americans. Sometimes that is the hardest part of our freedom....sorting out the difference. But when you are proven guilty.......God help you!

"RE: World Trade Centre" To the person who said the international community at their school was pleased with todays events, I can say here at Purdue (we have more international students than any other school in the U.S.) what is normally a loud happy campus, is quiet and somber. The non-american students here are as shocked as those of us born and raised here. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all Americans, now however we need to stand together and rid the earth of those who committed these awful crimes. And by we I mean all the people of this Earth, we must stand up and say "We shall not live in fear, we will not live in terror. Those who think they can terrorize the civilized peoples of our planet must be sent a message that they can not, and if they try they will pay the price." Sep-12-01, 12:47 PM (EST) 35. "RE: World Trade Centre" I think all in the US draw strength and comfort from the out pouring of support from the many fine people around the world who prize freedom and international law and civilized society. We can no longer see the world as petulant individual states, but a global community that must unite to preserve the fabric of society we all treasure. Terror cannot exist without funding. Wherever perpetrators bank, all their funds should be frozen. No law respecting state should send a dime to anyone shown to have contributed in any way to this idiocy.
If you live in the US, go make an appointment with the Red Cross to give blood. It may seem trite, but it just might save a life.
Again, thanks to all around the world for your encouragemnt and synpathy. I hope we never loose sight of the importance of a world where all in the global community feel secure and appreciated.

I have seen several news forums where people have the audacity to condone this act of murder. People actually saying "Now the U.S. knows what it's like to lose." Well, I have some bad news for these folks; I AM NOT BEATEN!!! I know I am not the only person to feel this way. There has been BRAGGING about how the U.S. has been shut down. I got up yesterday, saw the news, and drug my butt to work just like millions of others. No one told my boss we were shut down. Anyone who thinks they have beaten us can pucker up while I get off my chair and drop my pant's.I apologize for my little tirade, I am not usually very vocal but enough is enough.I would like tell everyone on this forum, I am proud to be involved with such a great group of people. Sep-12-01, 12:58 PM (EST) 36. "RE: World Trade Centre" This is a little too big for me to comprehend. Now that the initial shock is wearing off abit, I now feel a tremendous anger and hatred toward these childish nations.
I realise that any reaction needs to be thought through rationally and calmly but the need for retribution in its most absolute form cannot be ignored forever.
A great wrong has been commited by a small minded minority, the world has enough problems without this wilful destruction of life.
I can only hope that this travesty will usher in a new age of global co-operation. The troubles of the middle east must be contained, forcefully, until such time as these people are ready to rule themselves in a civilised manner.
My thoughts are with the families of the dead and the missing, and my hopes are with the future. We should never have to witness a day like this again. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Seize each opportunity
that you find,
Without concern for
what others might say.Live each day as though
it were the last.
Accomplish all that
you set out to do.
Instead of putting
things off for tomorrow,
Pursue your goal until
you see it through.Experience each day
with open arms,
Savoring both
victory and strife,
Welcoming the good
and bad together,
For only then
will you know the
joy of life.
