I know this seems a bit off topic, but I really need some help. Lately, my computer has been acting very strange...It crashes repeatedly during start up or while it's running.
When I start up my computer, it powers up, but it either freezes and crashes, or it restarts itself! It does this repeatedly for at least 10-20 times. When I'm finally able to get things up and running, the comp will go into "Safe Mode". Then while it's running normally (out of safe mode), for some reason, just restarts itself. Now, I doubt this is normal, but sometimes when it crashes/restarts I hear a whistling or squealing noise coming from the tower/CPU.
When the comp crashes while it's running normal, I'm usually using a big program, either Jane's FA-18 or MSTS. Other times when it crashes is when I'm loading a web page. I tried scanning the comp with Norton Anti-Virus (which is waaay outdated and in dire need of updating), but the computer restarted itself a minute into the scan!
I'm not even sure if it's a virus...
I hope someone can shed a little light on this...
Thanks,
Mike

RE: Really bad Computer Problems...

Man, everybody is having computer problems lately!
That high-pitched squealing is your hard disk, means it's dying and has to be replaced.
