Well, I got a shot of my first SP locomotive today!!! CP 9130, SP 127 and mixed freight-CP 218 pulled up the siding on a rule 564 so I got 2 great shots of this thing....This loco first went to Thunder Bay on a coal train behind a CP AC4400, then was placed behind SD9043MAC 9130 and left and came through here..Sad thing is that it was snowing when i took the shots but they are still awsome...They will be uploaded onto my site at http://groups.msn.com/lakesuperior as soon as i get the chance.ChrisChris WilsonMP 63 CP's Heron Bay Sub

THa'ts nothing
Last time I was in Toronto, I saw brand spanking new EMD SD70m's and GE AC6000CW's as well for Union Pacific. One left as a lead unit as well.

RE: CP 9130, SP 127 roll through Marathon, Ontario

No,Well, the reson for the Southern Pacific GE is from the locomotive transfers between CP, and UP... And SP is now UP and i guess she was the pick of the litter!!! Maybe one of the American's can help out us freezing canadians ??? Do you guys get Canadian Pacific stuff down there?? Like 9100's SD40's GE's????As for the SD70's, they were probably coming from EMD London, Div and the AC6000's not really sure about? The pictures are up there now, SP takin by Craig Konopski and the 9130 on the train with the SP and if you look on page 1 of the 2 for Canadian Pacific on the North Shore, there should be a SD40T-2T idleing in Thunder Bay Westfort Yards.....ChrisChris WilsonMP 63 CP's Heron Bay Sub

>and i guess she was the pick of the litter!!! if you live in Southern Ontario, which I can tell you don't that sort of rainbow is common. CSX, NS, UP, SP, BNSF you name it it rolls there on both CN and CP rail lines. Saw a frieght train being pulled once by F59PH's and Via Rail Canada's new P42's. GE's were very rare on either CN or CP rail lines until around mid 1999. When I came back to visit in 2000, it was common.

>there?? Like 9100's SD40's GE's???? I was born and raised in Toronto, I married an American but I'm 70 miles to Montreal and 16 from the border. If you drive down here you can literally spit and hit the border guard in the eye. Down here New England Central runs the show. They have ex GP38-1's, GP38AC's and GP40's which are ex PC and BN locomotives. 2 CN Rail GP40-2W's and the Remote Control Wonder Machine VRS GP18 #802 are also here. I've also seen CN and CP rail locomotives here. makes me think of home. But I also seen those rolling piles of nothing but cowshit Acela Express cars here too. they go down to Barre for completion. I saw Sounder bi level commuter cars with crap plastered all over the windows but the paint very crisp and clean.

Your dad's right .. After 30 years with CP, nothing surprises me anymore. The real answer here is we will lease power from just about anywhere..HAC

Nothing's better than seeing the old man right
30 years of service, my dad has 36 and my great uncle before getting glaucoma had put in 44 years of service with the railroad. With all those AC4400CW's and Sd40-2's running around you'd think CP was okay for a bit. Guess not. Once my dad got an ex NW SD40-2 in his consist. He physically swapped the units around so he could drive the thing long hood forward (1611). He liked the ride but bitched about visibility

CP's ok, rental power is a pretty normal way of dealing with spikes in demand. We used to get a lot of lease SD-40's. Now its AC power from wherever we can get it.
As far as service goes, 36 years is pretty darn good. I'm a 3rd generation CP man, my son makes it 4 generations. My grandfather had 50 years service. Still have a collection of his long service passes and other CP stuff..Cheers

Dip it into the hat
When I was there the AC6000CW's were confined to Toronto-Montreal and the SD70M's brand new were confined London-Toronto on break in runs.

Nice shots, Chris. Haven't been up there in a dog's age. Beautiful country. R.I. videos "North of Superior" and "A Superior Winter" help me stay connected, so to speak.
