Before I get started I just want to say that NCSTA is a NON-profit organization, any money we make will go back into the organization. Now on to my plan. I believe that we should run this group like a business. If I am elected my first order of business would be to raise money to restore steam engines and other equipment. I would raise about half a million dollars, to start with, through grants and donation. During the process of raising the money, we would gather information on several steam engines, comparing them on all aspect and deciding which one fits our needs and requirement. We will then contact the owner of these steam engines to see if we can't strike up a deal. Also during the time we are raising money, I would set up relationships with several other organization for their help. One I have in mind right now is the North Carolina Transportation Museum. They have the equipment, the people, almost everything we could need to restore steam engines and other equipment. Other equipment includes tool car, and crew car. These cars and various other equipment will be purchase over time as the organization grows and prosper. I will have no plan of purchasing regular passenger cars, and the reason is this. Supply and demand, if we buy like 20 cars, but only use 15 of those 20 during our entire existent, well that just sound wasteful doesn't it? Therefore the cars will be rented prior to the demands of the excursion. Along with the relationship with other organization, I will also form relationship with major and minor railroad companies. Because, they can help us at servicing stops and provides us with rail rights, at a price of course. Now how many steam engine do I think we should run? No more than three and heres why. If you only have one, then every once in a great while you'll need to suspend service during an overhaul, that loses the organization money. So while one steamer is having an overhaul done on it, another one will take over. Now what about the third one? That will simply be use as a back-up, in case both of them breaks down. Also we may rent or borrow diesel helpers from NCTM or other railroad organization, which does include railroad companies. Finally, I do anything to make sure the passenger of the excursion have a good time. If they don't have a good time, then hey they aren't going to come again are they? I will establish a good relationship with the public and my fellow co-workers. Now the excursion itself, we will travel anywhere we are permitted to and money will allow. Every once in a while we may do a cross country run to the major railroad show in California, to show off our organization. I do however want to stress one more time that NCSTA is a NON-profit organization. All money we make will go into the organization itself. Any question you may have about my plan, please ask me and I'll be more than happy to answer them. Thank you for your time and God Bless.

Well, truthfully guys, I don't know why we had to ask the public, especially when no one knows ANYTHING about this group. We need to give them some insight. We are a small group, who hopes to restore one or more steam locomotives to OPERATING Condition. We want this because, at the moment, there are not any operating ones, b/c 4449 is not going this year, b/c of expenses, we lost 1522, and UP(ee) is the only other one that I know of in the US, and I am not really sure they are going to run any either b/c of the large expenses involved in it.
Thanks,
ChrisPS: I understand, that being only 16 Years old, I won't be able to do that much, b/c I am not an ADULT. Heck, its worth a Try Who should be the first North Carolina Steam Train Asso – image 44
