to become a first class member in the file library? I get really sick of having to wait 30 minutes to get in daily. Also, is the download speed increase that it talks about signifigant? Currently, I only get 2.5 kbs per second, so it's snail speed downloads.

RE: Is it worth it...

It's absolutely worth it. If for no other reason than to support all the time and effort that goes in to maintaining this wonderful site! If you figure it out, it's really a pretty small amount, at $2.50/month. I can't comment on the d/l speed increase, as I'm on DSL.

Yes, it helps support this site. And you will get a noticable increase in DL speed, esp if you are still on 56K.Kevin Arceneaux

Not to mention it allows you to jump ahead when searching a section. For instance, without it, you would have to start at the beginning when looking through the 1244 diesels, but with the membership, you can jump ahead to the middle, to the end, whereever. Most importantly, it supports this site. I think everyone should have it, just for that reason. Nels takes a lot of time and effort in keeping this site up and running, and it shows support for such a cause. Not everyone can afford the $30, especially the younger simmer's, but anyone who uses this site often should cough up the dough.Chris Bogley

I have not DL'ed a lot but it certainly makes it more convenient. I do not have money to burn but I can afford the fee and I like to pay my way. I like the fact those who cannot afford the fee can still DL.

RE: Is it worth it...

Depends on what/how much you want to download. Let's see . . . the original MSTS cost 25-30 bucks and came with four routes, about a dozen engines, and another couple of dozen cars. With a high speed connection one can d/l four better routes, 50 better engines, 100 better cars, and 5 or 6 really handy utilities in a good long evening. For myself, I have had a membership for about a half a year. If I d/l nothing else for the next half year, I feel I have gotten my money's worth already.Brad Meyer

RE: Is it worth it...

I delayed for a year before buying my first class membership and like you I struggled with the slow download speeds and the difficulty in accessing the file library. Finally caved in a couple of months ago and it was well worth it!Now I can go in and download to my hearts content with immediate access what I consider to be very good download speeds.Russ

RE: Is it worth it...

Yes it is worth it.I'm sure you spend $2.50 per month needlessly elsewhere, why not support Train-Sim.com??? These sites are NOT cheap to run.I don't know about speeding up the download rate -- but just getting in on the first click makes all the difference to me. I probably download maybe one or two things a week and that's it -- but it's the getting in to see what's available that makes the difference to me.

Click to send message via ICQ

From my point of view its worth it, not only do you get instant access I've noticed faster download speed plus if you are in the middle of downloading files from a certain section the jump ahead will allow you to go back and continue where you left off.....The best part is I can download whenever i want without the hassle, and of course it helps to keep this site going.Theodore Webster

And even better, besides supporting the site, you can use it from anywhere. Work Or Home. Or is that home or Work?
