I have a dd40X and a few other locomotives that no matter what I do the train won't stop (eventually is does) unless I force it by running the reverse direction at maximum throttle. Even with emergency brakes on I can't stop and it makes this engine usless for any yard duties. What parameters must I change in order to have the locomotive stop much quicker. (ie. the emergency stop is supposed to slow and eventually stop the locomotive not let it continue to go like no brakes have been applied.
Are you running the recent physics update for that locomotive? It should give vastly improved dynamic braking, and better performance, since the original file used some very badly misinterpreted data on tractive effort. It used the TE at 90 mph as the max TE which is actually MUCH higher and at MUCH lower speed (between 15 and 16 mph with the long gearing on that model). DDA40X45.ZIP should be the file name. Bob
Could you by chance, have put in some lines out of order, or put some extra paraenthesis into the file? You might try going to your backup, and reediting that and see if you get rid of the problem. You could also just unzip a clean file from your original zip, and edit it, if you didn't make a backup. Did you copy and paste just the blocks as instructed in the directions?Bob
