RE: We need a yard like this...

Neat, where'd you find that? Only problem with an MSTS yard like that is it would probably give you about the same frame rates as the picture!

RE: We need a yard like this...

Though, that could make for cute activities. Like Go find the lost boxcar. Or:You just started today, and now you have to figure out just where you are. You've got maybe twenty minutes before the dispatcher notices your missing and stops all traffic. Think you can find your way back to the engine terminal without causing an accident or getting caught?(hint) The yard crews will report you if they see you, so stay well away of their movements. Main line crews just think it's funny and won't say a word.

That yard is like longer than a commercial runway!"Control tower to tracks 6-11! Control tower to tracks 6-11! You've got a Boeing 787 ID LSS288570 coming in hot at North Northeast! Prepare the landing pad!"-Hovertrain

Maybe someone could model UP's enormous Bailey classification yard. Now that would be BIG!
P.S. I think there is a map of it somewhere on the Internet, but I'm not sure where...

I tried it once, FPS went in the hole. I haven't tried it with the dumb tracks, but I'm sure the FPS would probably be the same.Austin S.

In response to message #11

time to find the missing person before we have to call the cops and John Walsh. Last seen switching cars, the locomotive disappeared. the engineer is described as a nice person and so is the conductor but the conductor has speeding tickets outstanding.

RE: We need a yard like this...

You know. Someone could make some dummy cars, really just simple boxes and good eye candy, and then using that in conjunction with dummy tracks and dummy switches...you could do that yard pretty easily. In fact, if there's any desire for them, I don't mind making the low poly cars. Mind you, the trucks will be boxes and the bodies lack all details. Still, at a distance they should look believable.

RE: We need a yard like this...

I talked to a guy today who worked that yard. He said (through the babbling *retired due to a stroke*) that it WASN'T uncommon for the crews to lose boxcars in there. Normally, he said, they were on a far track, and it was muddy or just a long walk to go check on them, and the crews didn't feel like tromping out there to go find the cars. So, they just got "lost"...sometimes for YEARS.
