Maybe it was taken before they fixed that problem, we all know about how Microsoft like to release stuff way before they are really suspose to, therefore leaving bugs in every program that they put out.

Didnt the scottsman have a third cylinder? I think that is what the extra rod is about. Just a guess...-MIKE-Hey! It's broken! – image 18Model Railroader, Railfan, and MSTS user

>Didnt the scottsman have a third cylinder? It did, but that isn't where that rod is going. It's like someone undid the bolt connecting the rear wheel to the middle wheel and the free end went and got itself shoved into the top.-Hovertrain

RE: Hey! It's broken!

Theres a diesel that came with Train Sim: Railyard Collection that has a drive rod that detatches from the front wheels and makes a complete circle around the rear wheel.-Hovertrain

RE: Hey! It's broken!

I'm probably really picky when it comes to this, but one of my pet peeves is with people who draw steam locomotive side rods as zig-zags across the drive wheels. It's probably because so many people these days have never seen a real steam engine run. Maybe I should be an art consultant? Make money telling uninformed artists how to draw a train?- dispatcher618(watches side-rods on a regular basis- yes, they do connect to the wheels in a straight line...)

RE: Hey! It's broken!

Hi,And to be some nitpicking:
It is not the driving rod, but the coupling rod. The rod that connects the driving wheel with the other wheels.
The coupling rod is always at horizontal level.Dick van den HovenHey! It's broken! – image 34

I just call 'em all drive rods. Thanks for the correction.-Hovertrain

RE: Hey! It's broken!

It is a great picture, but as soon as the connecting rods hit the axle, the loco would slide to a stop and just stay there, unable to move. It would maybe move 2-3 feet and then jerk to a stop.
