RE: way to pronouce "Bombardier"

It is BOM BAR DEE AY.
When guns were first developped in Europe the french used the BOMBARDE which fired a BOMBE (round lump of metal basically..).
The first bombe was dropped from a hot air balloon during a siege in France..(my fading memory says it's right!!!)
From there on an aircraft that dropped bombs became a BOMBARDIER and the guy that pressed the drop button was also called the bombardier.
End of history lesson!!!!
Georges from London (frenchman living in London.)
