The only info I have is that the unit was delivered to SP February, 1953 as DF-10 6440 in Black Widow paint. The unit was probably repainted in Bloody Nose colors in '58 or '59. The unit was delivered with Farr one-pice grilles, and although it had ice-breakers installed for passenger runs, it lacked a steam generator - thus, an interesting combo for sure.BTW, the diamond emblem above the number indicates the unit was equiped with retention type spark arrestor (a triangle would indicate a cyclone one). Just FYI. The "warped" appearance I have no info on, but appears as though the damage was a patch job and not from a "bump" (the rest of the end is too clean for that - perhaps roof-repair for rust). I have the same pic taken at Taylor yard, and my guess is that the unit was waiting for the torch or close to it.Edit: after some digging, I found the unit had only partial skirting, as it used factory-installed 1500 gal fuel tanks. Also, if you're going to repaint the unit for mid to late '60's, then it shouldn't have a diaphragm.Cheers! Marc - 3DTrains http://www.3dtrains.comPro Series Super Packs
thanks for the info, I have a KATO F-7a from quite a few years ago that I thought about making protopically correct. I already changed out the plow, and removed the steam generator. it came in the bloddy nose so I think I'm going to leave it that way. that and the 2 pics I have show it in bloddy nose. thanks
