GE builder's decals – image 2

I don't know for sure... but a few things come to mind. I'm only speaking here because this is an interesting question... I'm not looking to get flamed for not having the answer.Maybe:1) Since GE does rebuilds after "wrecks". The rebuild shop might add a plate when they are done.2) There might be a separate builders plate if part of the loco was built as a module that was not done in Erie.... like the AC section that was sub-contracted to say... Siemens. But those are just guesses... I really don't know.

First of all I apreciate any input to my questions, not necessarily a full answer, so don't feel bad for posting a response without a full answer. There are some other facts about the "double builder deacals" I wish to add. First, I do not think they are rebuild decals for several reasons. First this loco wears CP's "Dual Flag" scheme. All rebuilt Dual Flag AC4400 were repainted to the newer "Beaver Emblem" scheme. Also, I have seen double builder decals on every dual flag or former dual flag unit I have seen (CP 9500-9582). The units dlvd. in Beaver Emblem paint all have a single builder decal. Final note: All dual flag or former dual flag units (9500-9582)were built in 1995 and ride on HiAd trucks. All other CP AC4400s (9582-9599, + 9600, 9700, 8500, and 8600 series were built from 1997-present. These units all ride on radial trucks and were delivered in "Beaver Emblem" paint.

RE: GE builder's decals

I looked at one of these once and it seems one of the decals was actually an emissions sticker. I've even had a Soo SD60 with a GE emissions decal on the side of the nose.I'll look at another when I get a chance.Todd
