I have not been able to keep up on posts lately so I do not know if this was mentioned or not.........But in the Feb 2003 issue of CTC Board on page 10 heading states: "Steam Locomotive In Danger"
"Soo Line number 735, a 4-6-2 that resides in a Minot, North Dakota, park is in danger of being scrapped or buried in a landfill by the city and CP Rail because of asbestos liability concerns. Lately folks are trying to organize a group to see if anything can be done to save the locomotive. At a park board meeting a local contractor said he was willing to haul the locomotive to a scrap yard and CP agreed to this if the park board didn't want the engine. Help save this locomotive. An outpouring of public responses can be the difference between a saved or restored locomotive in a park or a pile of razorblades. You can make a difference. Please email the mayor's office at mayor@web.ci.minot.nd.us (Terry Dempsey)"
