It was nice and green up at Tehachapi Loop two weeks ago (the same day the Columbia disintegrated) -- only problem was, from the Loop, you could see the very dense fog working its way up from Bakersfield -- around 9 a.m. it was up to about Keene. Around 11 a.m., I drove down to Bealville, and it was scary, the fog was thatbad. On top of that, trackwork is being done down near Sandcut, and only two (yes, TWO) trains came all morning, from 9 a.m. until about 3 p.m.!!! Headed home then, and NOTHING was coming up through Mojave.I think I took more pictures of stored airliners in Mojave) and film studio buses (including the ones used for "Speed" at another desert location.....sure wasn't any rail action.

Sounds good John. Looking forward to meeting you. I believe Brad and Bruce are suppose to come up as well. I e-mailed him a few days ago with the new dates, and I havn't heard from him yet. I suspect that he too might make it a bussiness trip as well.

Yeah, the trackwork issue is a nagging threat, although the BNSF website says it should be complete by "mid-March". As I mentioned, when I was up there 4 weeks ago, it was dead from about 10:00 till 3:00 each day. Very busy in the mornings, and busy again in late afternoons, after they unleashed all the southbounds that were bottled-up outside of Bakersfield. Let's all hope for the best.

On the Trainorders cam today, it was dead from about 9am till 2pm. Thats why I like to chase trains there, as oppose to sitting still. You can follow the same train for 2-3 hours, and by the time your done with that one, another one is usually going the other way. We'll make the most of it.
