I have to like steel trains, mixed goods, the odd containerised grain and as many ballast trains as I can get. Piggybacks and reefers. The reefers were the hot trains of the late 1940s and 1950s. The piggybacks took over that title in later years. Now it has past to the doublestack trains, but since I mostly run stuff fromm the 1950s to 1980s, the reefers and pigs are my favorites. Bob
I prefer long coal trains and long mixed freights. Im used to many of them since I live in a town along CP's line to St. Paul, where thousands of tons of coal are unloaded every day to give us electricity. My new e-mail is Arcanine241@yahoo.com premium add-ons
I think I like yard work the most... gotta love building trains, and delivering cars to their specific locations after being dropped in the closest yard. Then I would have to give local freight my second vote... Maybe I just haven't run the right long train yet, but long haul bores me in most cases. It just seems as if once you get going at or near the speed limit on a long stretch of track there's not much to do and I get bored and fall asleep behind the controls. It would be Ok I guess if I could get my alerter to work properly and for it to give me a warning buzzer, but mine just throws on the E-Brake without any audible or visible warning whatsoever.Nick
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, double stackers!!! I like the odd well wagon in my containerised freights, but shesh, not double stacked. However all you Western Australians get is double stack, oil and passenger.Projects - 421 class Public Transport Commission of New South Wales diesel electircs: Fuel & Air tanks - 100% No. 2 end - 88% (Pilot details and number boards/headlights need to be added) No. 1 end - 08% (Work on the pilot has been started as a base for the nose ) Sides - 45% (frame work is up, about 2/3 of panels on) Overall - 16.9% - 422 class New South Wales Government Railways diesel electircs: On the drawing boards for a project after the 421's. lol - 2 or 3 NR's on a Double Stacked 5PM5 going through the swan valley? - even my g/f thinks it is an awesome sight and sound we get DS trains (ASR, Pacnat and now Freight Australia - led most of the time by V544!), Wheat trains with Q's, ALOT of chemical trains, Bauxite, coal, mineral sands, and the IP cheers mike
You ever heard the rumble of three generation 1 and generation 2 Clyde - GM products while in idle about 5m from you? That is something. Sounds HEAPS better than any amount of NR's, however 4 NR's creeping along at about 2kph does sound nice.
