I am strongly considering taking JLW TrainSim to the next Greenberg Train Show at Monroeville, Pennsylvania. But i need to know what kinds of literature should i have on the table for both the MSTS Enhanced, and those thinking about purchasing it? I was thinking of typing up a list of helpful links, including Train-sim.com, maybe even printing off the Train-sim.com Start page as a nice advertisement. But what else should i have out?
How about posting the article which appeared in the February 2003 issue of Model Railroader magazine? I don't know how much lead time you have here, but if you have a couple of weeks and contact Kalmbach Publishing, they might give you permission to distribute photocopies. There was also another article on MSTS published in MR last year sometime.Other ideas; 1. Set up a working computer to run MSTS, and allow passerby to try their hand. 2. If you have access to one, set up the Raildriver console for display. Or, if you do the working computer thing, include the Raildriver console as part of the experience. Dan
This seems to me, to be a verrrrry good idea! I have the GATS (Great American Train Show) coming to Spokane Wa. in Feb.( a little lead time). And have been considering something similar myself. If anyone has some ideas to put to use, (payware vendors included). Drop me a line @ Rice35@msn.comJeff
Try contacting the RailDriver people, maybe they'd "floor plan" you with some stock to demo and sell at the meet? Seems like a good move on their part, to me at least.(by Floor Plan I mean the practice, now largely unheard of, where a manufacturer supplies a dealer with products to display on the showroom floor and a small amount of stock to sell. The manufacturer retains ownership of all the items, giving the dealer and manufacturer a method of bringing a product to market without a huge capital investment (risk) on the part of the dealer.)Cheers! Take a high end computer system with a large monitor down there and run the sim on it. You are certain to be kept busy answering questions about MSTS and have a crowd of people watching the sim.I've done it several times since MSTS came out from two Saginaw Fair, to the last train swap at Delta Collage. The LCD monitors perform well under the difficult lighting conditions present.Make a sign and have screen pics to display different aspects of the sim.Just be sure that you have a good speaker system with subwoofer base. It will carry throughout the entire building without turning it up too much.Explore the suggestions of the other post as well.Take some help with you so you can take a break every so often.Enjoy the experienceSRV Ron
Guys, i liek your suggestion about set up a PC, but Greenberg Train Shows has a PC already set up and usually frown upon anyone else bring MSTS to the palce, but maybe i can sneak my file into their train sim, then have them dirrect people to my booth? Hmmm....anyway iw as also thinking of having one of those Welcome to the Hobby type letters out....
