I have been looking for the A-Train game for the PC for many years now. All I've been able to come up with is the game for Mac. Any information on where I can get a copy of the game will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I actually have a copy of that around here someplace. But it is on 5-1/4" floppies. I don't even have a machine that will read those anymore. Plus, after all these years, I suspect the oxide would come right off of them if you tried to read them.I could dig them out and send them to you if you're really interested. You do understand that this game runs under DOS, right?
I have a cdrom copy of that game that I found one day in the used games section of a small computer parts store. The problem is that it is a very old game now and the speed at which the game runs on modern computers is extremely fast even when the speed is set to 'slow'. The requirements on the box are listed as an IBM 286, 640K RAM and MS-DOS 3.1 ! The only places that may have a copy of the game these days are probably some of those small/obscure computer stores that have a section of used/old games such as the place I mentioned.
Hey is there anyway to put a copy on the internet that I could dl? That would be very cool. I really don't have little computer stores near me. How big is the file? Could it be e-mailed? Any response would be greatly appreciated.
>The trains zoom across the screen before I could even take a >glance at them! If you really want to play it, you may want to take a look at MESS, www.mess.org.MESS is a piece of software that tries to faithfully emulate under Windows various old home video game systems, such as the Atari 5200, Colecovision, etc. A few of the "consoles" that it emulates are the IBM XT and IBM AT, for this very reason, so you can play old MS-DOS games on modern systems, at the right speed.I haven't tried it for this myself (I've only used it to play my favorite old ColecoVision games) , but I would think it should work fine for A-Train.The downside is that it's not the easiest thing to get running for folks who aren't computer geeks, but it's not impossible either.By the way, you can download A-Train (as well of a lot of other old, obsolete, or "abandoneware" games) from The Underdogs:http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=79Hope this helps!
