B&P for sure!! - wisconsin central next (even when that railroad from canada takes them over!! :@ - WC's paint scheme is still alive in australia) - LS&I would be 3rd - all GE?!?!?! - cant get much better than that! (U30C's and C30-7's)cheers

You put a big smile on my face ,Shawn!It's too bad that just a few years ago the NYSW was a major player in the Northeast.When I worked there,new welded rail was laid from east of Butler to Sparta Junction.We operated the Delaware and Hudson.We owned the Staten Island RR and the Rahway Valley.We also operated the Lackawaxen and Stourbridge in NE PA.At one time the NYSW was actually a class 1 RR and was one of the first(if not the first)class 1 to completely dieselize.When I worked there, the term was "regional",now its back to being just a shortline.Oh well.

With several hundred to choose from, this is difficult and sadly some of my local favorites are out of service (Magma, TC&GB). Excluding purely tourist roads some of my favorites:Camas Prairie

Pittsburgh & Ohio Central. Its Arden/Carnegie local runs Monday/Wednesday/Friday(we live close to one of the RR crossings).Its usual power is P&OC's ex-CN GP9 4032. It also has two remote-control SW1200S,and SW1500s too.Mike

Hehe, I chuckle every time I see the KYLE railroad mentioned. Anyway, for me it would be the Western New York & Pennsylvania (parent road Livonia Avon & Lakeville). They are an all Alco road, with C430M's, C424M's and C630M's and one C424. Some of these locomotives, however are not on the property at this time. The road will eventually run from Meadville, PA (near Erie) to Hornell, NY. The line was leased from Conrail in 1998 by the Southern Tier Rail Authority, which was instituted by the New York State government to insure that this area of NY has rail service. Then, in 1999, the Livonia Avon & Lakeville Railroad leased it from the Authority and created the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad to run it. The line is nee-Erie and was once part of E-L's New York City to Chicago mainline. However, after the creation of Conrail it started to decline. In fear of a competitor buying it and making use of it, Conrail cannabolized almost all of the signals on it and did not keep the track in good condition. By the time the WNY&P got it, half of it was unusable and hadn't been used in about 6 years, with washouts destroying the roadbed in several spots, but fortunately, the line was not too far gone to repair. The WNY&P is currently making good progress on repairing the line and is hoping to have regular freight service on the line by the summer of this year. Yadkin Valley Railroad!!!!! A Colorful 100-mile long shortline in Northwestern North Carolina. They formerly operated with colorful Red and White GP9 units, but those have been retired and replaced by G&O GP8's and 10's and ex-Union Pacific GP38's. They even have an old Franklin County RR GE 70-Tonner on site too!! Would make an excellent MSTS route also!Jake Mensel
