I got a new digital camera for christmas and took it out for a test drive today. here are some photos of my trip starting in Denton, TXKCS intermodal 201 headed towards Lewisville, TX
close up of the locomotive on the point
another shot of the kcs locos, the lead unit is an ex- Gateway Western Unit
KCS 201 in the hole, waiting for KCS 221 headed towards metro Jct. to pass by.
KCS 221 on approach with some foriegn motive power on the front.
It gets very hot in Mexico, so naturally, the blower duct on this TFM sd40-2 is larger than a normal 40-2 blower duct
KCS 221 leaving for metro jct.
near the end of the train
just a note on the kcs trains, there was another railfan there who had a scanner, and he told me the train's numbers. These were taken in Ft.Worth about 200 yards to the north or Tower 55.
BNSF unit grain headed towards Saginaw, TX
UP autorack train waiting for the train in the next photo to pass by, so it can crossover the diamond @ tower 55
In this photo tower 55 is just out of view behind the bridge pylons on the left side of the photo( the just happened to line up right to block out the tower from the photo )
Some flavorfull pool power on the UP train in the above photo
BNSF 9962 getting ready to leave for powerplants to the south with a fresh load of coal from the power river basin
a side shot of the locos at the front.
some oddities in the consist BNSF 9962 was pulling
what most of the cars BNSF 9962 was pulling looked like, looking on the net, these cars belong to Entegy Gulf States Incorporated
The SD70MAC in DP mode at the end of the same coal train
Some native equipment the TRE, i looked at the lead loco's number, funnily enough it is the same number if the one i painted for msts.
some big UP power pulling a unit grain to the north, AC6000, 7074, and SD90MAC, 8209
some of that trains' consist
the last train of the day taking a cut of grain cars to a huge grain elevator in Saginaw, TXapparently birds don't like trains as much as we do
a close up of the GP38's pulling the train
from the looks of this equipment, i'd swear we were in Canada, not Texas!

i hope you enjoy the photos.A friendly reminder to all railfans, When around rairoads with heavy railtraffic, make sure to stay alert visually and listen for horns. Do not trespass on railroad property if possible, yes i did for some of those BNSF and UP photos but i asked permission of some of the BNSF workers there and they gave me permission to take these photos inside the yard. If you want to take photos of trains that require you to trespass, ask permission from a railroad emplyoee so you do not get in trouble, or do not take the photo. I have never had confrentations with railroad police, and having some railfanning now-how will ensure you never meet them. I abide by a simple set of rules and have never had a problem. Never cross the tracks when a train is oncoming, misjudgement in the train's velocity can have harsh consequences. Stay at least 15-20ft. away from a moving train, derailments are uncommon, but you need to have a out just in case. Most of all, have fun and stay safe when taking photos.
