Aug-15-01, 05:00 AM (EST) "Just a general question" Can somebody tell me why cosists sometimes have a locomotive facing backwards in the line up? Is there a standard way that a railroad sets up the order of locos (facing front or rear)? Let me take a couple seconds to share my opinion on a few issues since there seem to be some HOT topics and opinions around. I have had MSTS for about a month and a half now. Sure there are a few bugs, but I'm having fun. I'm just an average home PC user and I'm having to learn a bit in order to use the editor. Yes, it could have been made easier, but hey, I'm learning a thing or two about computers in the process. I have been an avid flight sim user for about 5 years (yes I have a life in the real world). My point is this, I have been impressed with the world of PC simulations. Not because of the simulations themselves, but because of the thousands of people out there who take the time to make thousands of "add on" programs for FREE so that you and I can enjoy the games even more. MSTS has only been out a very short time and look at all the FREE downloads that are already available. It's like collecting baseball cards. I can deal with a few problems revolving around a virtual world where people are so willing do help others out for FREE and not expect even a thank you in return. My hats off to all the people who contribute their time and effort so I can have a more enjoyable hobby! Thanks!!!Now can somebody please tell me about the backwards locos??? It is a general practice to have the first and last locomotive, in a mutiple lashup, facing oposite directions to avoid the necesity, and cost, of turning the lashup on a Wye. There are many occassions when it is not possible to turn the locomotives and this practice permits easy multi-directional service.
