RE: Is this an OK machine for MSTS?

I find with 256MB of RAM that I'm swapping a LOT with MSTS. I look forward to going to 512 or 768. Your video card will also probably be inadequate. For best MSTS experience a modern 128MB card is a must, in my opinion. Everything else is probably fine.

Agreed on the memory, 256mb is light for MSTS. I'm currently using 768mb which is the most my current MB will handle. Practically you can never have too much RAM. I've used MSTS with 256, 512 and now 768mb. I saw a performance increase each time.

Is this an OK machine for MSTS?In a word, "no." You will not be happy with the frame rates you get from that machine. They will be in the single digits and low teens most of the time.I know that because I have that Radeon card in my other machine; that machine has a faster CPU and more RAM (512 MB of DDRAM), and it still sucks for running MSTS.That machine also doesn't have enough RAM, and it doesn't have enough disk. You'll eat half the 30G's just with train stuff. It looks like it might be a used machine. If you can buy that thing for so-much-a-pound, such that you could spend another $350 upgrading it, and still have a good deal, it might be worth it. But as it is, it's no MSTS machine.

I think he should be quite alright... I'm runnin MSTS on my AMD K6-2 380mhz with 256mb RAM and a Geforce2 MX400 64mb and I usually play with fps in the mid to low teens. He should be ok with 512mb DDR and a Geforce 3 or better. *~þHÃt*Rat~**~classic american playa~*
