Sorry to ask this here but I didn't see it elsewhere on the web. The other week I was out railfanning (Toledo, Oh) and on the southbound track was a sign about 3' tall, with a square target on top. The sign was yellow with a red bar going diagonally from the bottom left to the top right corner. I figured they might have something to do with the grade crossings and maybe a snow plow, but they were gone today. It's kinda bugged me so I thought I'd ask here to see if anybody knew. If it'd help, I can draw a picture later. ThanksBrian
I think it is a temporary reduce speed sign... I see that across the river by my house...CSX line too....and a NS line 400ft from my house...Better watch glass on shelves
Sonds like a restricted speed sign. I know last summer or two summers ago while railfanning the River Line between CP 5 and 10 there was a lot of work so trains had to stop at CP 7 and get permission to proceed down to CP 5. Was good for catching trainss early because of the radio traffic.csx_dudeRiverline for ever!
Brian,This is a restricted speed sign that the MOW crews put up when working in an area. We have them all over Baltimore right now while they work on the Capital Sub and Baltimore Term. Sub. They usually just pull them up and lay them trackside when they are finished for the day, then "replant" them the next day before they start work.Chris Denbow - Baltimore, Md.
