While passing thru Dallas Texas, I was able to stop by the Railroad Muesuem at the state fair park, and although they do not have a very big collection, they did have several nice pieces on display, including 2 Frisco steams, a ATSF F40, #97, UP Centienial #6913, UP Big Boy #4801, and a ATSF steamliner passenger car.I would post pictures, but I am out of town, so you'll just have to wait and check out my website, when I get back in March. But if you are ever in the Dallas area, it is worth the side trip.ChrisFestival of Trains, NRHS 2003 Convention, June 2003, Baltimore Md. www.borail.org www.nrhs.com

Yep. the Age of Steam has a lot of stuff, only some on display- Can you say "need more room?" If memory serves me, on display they have Frisco 4501 a "Meteor" 4-8-4. UP Big Boy 4018, Some Pennsy GG1, They have an old T&P/MOP heavyweight modernized coach, Cotton Belt Drovers Caboose, an old Bobber, one depot, Frisco 1630, a 2-10-0, an old, but operational Southwestern Portland Cement FM H-12-44, UP DDA40X Centennial, #6913, Santa Fe M160, a doodlebug all done up in Warbonnet, one Santa Fe Streamlined observation, There's an old Frisco "Jim Crow" chair car, MKT Diner, and old T&P heavyweight Modernized RPO. There's also some form of Pullman there too. They have a couple of old Halliburton cars, and have the old CB&Q "Texland" business car. (Note to self, reskin one of Teemu's heavyweight obs.)There's also an old CN F7A in sorry, sad shape on display. Needs paint. BAD! There's old Dallas "Tower 17" in the midst of being restored there, also. The "Meteor" Northern was open last time we were there. I sat in the hoggers seat and yanked on the throttle a bit. Worst part of it all, was the people showing their kids/grandkids the firebox and saying "That's where they put the coal." 4501 is oil fired. They, then, promptly pointed to the sand bunker on the front of the tender and said, "The coal went in there. This continued until I opened the sand bunker to look in at the sand, which was still there. As a side note, 4018's piston rods and valve gear rods have all been amputated at the cylinders with an acetlyne torch.Bradley Linda

Cutting the piston and valve gear rods was done in preparation for moving the locomotive dead in a train movement for safety reasons.

LAST EDITED ON Dec-02-02 AT 07:20 PM (EST)

2 corrections: The ATSF is an F45 (it used to pull the Super Chief!!)And the Big Boy is #4018. I don't mean to sound rude. I live in Dallas, so I go there a lot. In one Frisco train, you can ring the bell and open the firebox!!!!

Allow me to correct your corrections, please. ATSF 97 is an FP45, and there is that M160 doodlebug in warbonnet. Frisco 4501 is the "Meteor" Northern that is open to the public. I was there when Thomas was there and got up in it. Bradley Linda
